Is Your Salesforce Data Really Safe? Some questions to help us find out

Is Your Data Safe With Salesforce? Yes, that is a question, absolutely unimaginable! But it's true!

There were 20 hours of outraged service, which would have even affected Salesforce. When it comes to Salesforce, it ranks as the # 1 CRM tool. The service is designed for global availability and redundancy. In other words, a SaaS-based business in its true sense. However, it has happened, and the chilling reality is that even SaaS applications and services can experience these types of incidents, including the biggest players like Salesforce. So we are in the real world where even Salesforce is not considered safe.

Today we will cover five questions to help us develop a comprehensive plan to protect critical Salesforce data.

• What does Salesforce recommend for data protection?

The Salesforce Help Center mentions "While Salesforce maintains all backup data and can recover it, it is critical to constantly back up your own data locally so that you can restore it and avoid relying on Salesforce for backups to recover your data."

If your data is accidentally deleted, you may end up getting a slow and expensive data recovery service. Waiting so long to retrieve CRM data can be detrimental for some organizations. Therefore, both in money and time, which is unacceptable.

• What are the different factors that can affect the integrity of your Salesforce data?

Threats to the integrity of your Salesforce data can come from any direction. The process may appear to be proceeding smoothly, but errors can be introduced in several areas. However, the affected areas are as follows:

All third-party applications - Most SaaS tools, including Salesforce, still offer integration with third-party applications. The application extends the functionality of the basic service to a more valuable business proposition. This somehow helps to increase productivity. On the other hand, they may even change your data unexpectedly, ultimately leading to a data corruption and recovery challenge.

User error: Most often, Salesforce data is managed by multiple users, such as the sales team, the marketing team, etc. Public reports are a great example of situations where users have access to update or delete records. It is a process that opens the door to the possibility of malicious activity.

Data migration or updates: Although it is said that administrators do extensive checks before doing bulk updates of records. It is not uncommon to find duplicate files or incorrectly updated fields. This process can ultimately render your data ineffective.

• Are you ready to respond to a litigation request that requires your organization's data to be available?

In 2014, nearly 34% of companies faced at least one lawsuit with nearly $ 20 million at stake. Therefore, there is a clear threat of litigation, and therefore eDiscovery requests are considered a real concern for businesses of all sizes.

With the growth of companies adopting more SaaS-based tools in their daily operations, courts are gradually increasing the production of cloud data as evidence in all legal proceedings.
