What Salesforce1 Means for Your Nonprofit

Maintaining the fundamental idea that each customer is unique and that it is necessary to have a unique technology to meet these needs, Salesforce has developed a new platform called Salesforce1. The Salesforce1 platform is a new mobile experience for users and is much more than a next-generation Salesforce Touch mobile app (which is no longer available for download). The platform allows users to access all Salesforce apps, all customizations, customer-developed apps, Appexchange apps, and chat streaming, including all notifications from any mobile device. The platform is built on Force.com, so it has the ability to support open API integrations; allowing other systems to interact with Salesforce.

So what does all of this mean for your nonprofit?

This means that your organization can develop and implement CRM and external applications for employees, partners, customers, board members, and volunteers through any mobile device. Real-time data from an integrated external system can be used with your organization's Salesforce CRM. For nonprofits, this may mean that your organization's social workers have the ability to access and update customer data from their mobile device while they are still in the field. Even admission forms can be completed and processed in real time. If your nonprofit tracks and manages volunteer registrations online, Salesforce1 can allow volunteers to sign up, sign up, log times, and even provide feedback through their mobile device. The Salesforce1 platform also provides reporting and dashboard capabilities, so a board member can log in from any device and view trends, patterns, or financial data. of the company in real time.

So how do I get Salesforce1?
Salesforce1 is enabled by default for all organizations (except Salesforce Touch users and Communities), unless your organization has turned off automatic activation. Here are the steps to access Salesforce1:

  1. Download the Salesforce1 app
  2. Login with your developer credentials.
  3. Enable notifications (only if disabled)
  4. Create the Salesforce1 navigation menu by dragging and dropping the relevant items.

Basic setup is complete! If you are a more advanced administrator or super user, you can customize the way data appears in Salesforce1, create unique editor actions, or start expanding functionality by developing unique user interfaces, designing VisualForce pages, integrating web applications, and more. It can be found here.

If you're overwhelmed by development capabilities and possibilities, remember, you can always find more information from other users and professionals through the Salesforce Developer Community, Salesforce discussion forums, and resource documents. development team and even Salesforce implementation partners.
