Expedite Innovation while Remaining Compliant in Pharma Industry with OpKey

Pharma companies looking to migrate from on-premises “Oracle Hyperion” to “Oracle Fusion Cloud EPM” need to understand the importance of continuous testing. One perk of Oracle Fusion EPM Cloud migration is the delivery of the latest innovations via regular updates. However, with this benefit, also comes some responsibility. Enterprises embracing the cloud need to understand that every time they receive an update, they should validate their systems. It assures that applications are in a compliant state and updates are stable.

Oracle cloud updates and maintenance packs have the potential to influence the existing functionality. There can be a possibility that with these updates new bugs could be introduced or fixing of bugs could negatively impact business processes. So, enterprises using Oracle Fusion Cloud EPM need to validate critical reports, key workflow approvals, and critical integrations with other applications to ensure the stability of the application.

Oracle Cloud EPM Testing – Complicated, Challenging & Chaotic

Short Testing Window – Since Oracle rolls out updates quarterly, testing four times a year is not a walk in the park. Firstly, Oracle cloud updates are introduced in the non-production environments. Two weeks later, they are automatically applied to Production. This schedule can neither be changed nor be cancelled unless Oracle specifies and approves so. Thus, organizations get only two weeks’ time to execute testing, analyse the results, & validate critical business processes for stability. Though the manual testing approach is still prevalent, it cannot be termed viable as you’ll struggle to achieve the required levels of testing speed and accuracy needed to keep pace with Oracle Quarterly cycles.

Dynamic Locators & Database Driven Tables – Oracle Cloud application consists of dynamic elements that don’t have fixed attributes like ID, name, Class, or CSS. Due to dynamic locators, minor changes in the UI such as new screens, buttons, user flows or user inputs can lead to test failures, flaky/brittle tests, & build failures. Apart from this, Oracle Cloud applications use database driven tables in which rows and columns are created dynamically at run-time and changes from user to user. So, standard test automation platforms like Selenium that use element properties cannot be considered as a reliable solution for Oracle EPM applications.

Script Maintenance – Oracle releases updates four times a year. In case, you employ manual testing or non-ML test automation platform, then these test scripts don’t automatically adapt the changes, leading to test inability. Navigation change, object change, and meta-data change can lead to inconsistent test results, if test scripts are not updated for these changes.

E2E Integration Testing – Oracle cloud applications are highly customizable and can be integrated seamlessly with third party applications. During updates, there are chances that these integrations and customizations get broken. So, test automation shouldn’t be limited to Oracle applications but covers the entire ecosystem of applications.

Minimize Risks, Reduce Costs, & Stay Ahead of the Curve with OpKey’s Autonomous Test Automation

OpKey is the industry’s leading Oracle Fusion EPM Application test automation platform that helps pharmaceutical companies to keep evolving while embracing digital transformation at an accelerated pace.
