A person's typing speed is generally measured in words per minute (WPM). There is no definitive answer to the question of what qualifies as a "fast" typing speed, as it can vary depending on factors such as the individual's occupation, age, and level of experience. That said, a study from 2018 found that the average typing speed among all adults was 36.6 WPM.
There are a number of ways to improve one's typing speed. For beginners, mastering the proper technique is key - this means posture, grip, and finger placement should be optimized for comfort and efficiency. Once the basics have been mastered, practice makes perfect - lots of typing practice will obviously lead to an increase inspeed. 97 WPM with 95% efficiency (only one wrong word). On a good day, I can clock up to 115...but not today.
I've got an old Apple Pro external keyboard that I've been using forever (connected to my Linux Toshiba Thinkpad).
