I don't know why you hate Windows, privacy? any connected machine is not private, when I use my Windows based computer I don't have any kind of problems when using nodejs, vscode, I just open the editor then run the react and view the app using chrome , it is so easy, if you cant run nodejs scripts then you enter a single line command using poweshell (very easy to find on internet), or try restarting the editor after installing node, very common stuff
