Vibe Coding Is Over. Speed Was Never the Problem

For a while, “vibe coding” felt like magic.

Spin up a project. Ship fast. Stack tools. Chase momentum.
It looked like progress — and sometimes, it was.

But here’s the uncomfortable truth:
Speed was never the real bottleneck.

We weren’t slow because of syntax.
We weren’t blocked by frameworks.
We weren’t waiting on better tools.

We were (and still are) slowed down by:

  • unclear thinking
  • weak problem framing
  • lack of system design discipline
  • and code that works… but doesn’t last

Vibe coding optimized for feeling productive, not being effective.

And now we’re seeing the cost:

  • fragile architectures
  • unreadable codebases
  • teams afraid to touch what they shipped last month
  • velocity that collapses under its own weight

Shipping fast is easy.
Shipping something that survives change is hard.

That’s the shift happening right now.

Are we moving away from “just ship fast” toward more deliberate engineering—or is vibe coding still working for you?
