The best benefit that makes me love Linux is the freedom it provides. Personally, I like to feel free to manage and customize the system, use Arch Linux and choose most of the software packages that remain installed. Another example that I love about this "freedom" is the variety of desktop environments, like other software categories, I use Gnome, but I've used other DEs and in the future I can experiment with others.
