Great article. I am just getting started with Fossil and am really loving the control it gives me over looks and functionality, and how self-contained it is.

I’ve set up my first repo for a personal project. It was easy to do and I’m quite proud of how it’s turnign out!

Thanks!

I like your repo - its clever to keep the codebase web ui and your website in the same style. It makes it wonderfully consistent.

Awesome guide! I didn't know about that meta tag trick to make go get work with the repository.

I'm also using Fossil behind Caddy for an open source website builder and I've been loving the customizability too. That simple set-up hasn't gone down once for the months that it's been online, and it was surprisingly easy to set up. Being able to have all the capabilities of the web interface off-line is also super convenient.

Bitbucket also supports Mercurial (which is why I use it).

That said: thank you a lot for this article. I never managed to get Fossil running, so I got into Darcs for my personal projects instead. It brings me hope to see that there are still people who know the difference between "a VCS" and git. :-)

This reminds me of Trac, but... way better.
