Nothing wrong with picking another cloud provider for any reason whatsoever, but if you are going to quote a concrete dollar-amount in hope to be taken seriously please include a few more details. For starters, what would your total monthly bill be in AWS, not the savings part. What AWS services you'd use, down to the instance types, reservations, storage, IOPS. Without even digging into the option of utilizing the spot market, I'm fairly confident that on price alone, AWS is just hard to beat if you design things the right way.
The one thing that will save you lots of money on Digital Ocean is bandwidth. I have 5 edge servers on Digital Ocean for about 100 usd a month. The same servers on AWS will be over 1500 usd per month because of bandwidth.
