In my early 20s, I was a manager at a hipster "brand used" resale shop and, despite my retail management experience (even for the previous business in the same building), knowledge of the area and clientele, and work ethic, my fashion sense wasn't nearly "depeche mode" ("fast fashion," not the amazing synthpop band of the same name) enough and I was a terrible fit (the new owner being a sleazy douche didn't help either, but whatevs).
The "perverse abuse... by... competitors" reminds me that nobody seems to pay any mind to what Microsoft - after being on the losing end of one of the largest antitrust suits in history - has been doing since. Am I the only one who read, about a decade ago IIRC, that MS was holding "Screw Google" meetings in D.C. with lobbyists? Am I the only one who noticed them as conspicuously absent from the recent Congressional antitrust gangbang?
