For me it seems like you haven't really do anything youre passionate about because then the 40 hour bullshit is something you don't care about at all. If you're hating your work sure, do 40 hours and call it a week, but if you really care those 40 suddenly becomes 60-70 and you wont give a shit about it. And it's not about empathy nor producitivity. If you don't want to work just say so, but dont be mad when somebody doing same work as you do will be more successful just becasue he put extra 20 hours in it more.
