This is a submission for the Google AI Studio Multimodal Challenge
What I Built
Remember being a kid and spending hours sketching your own Pokémon in notebooks, giving them ridiculous names like "Flamezilla" or "Thunderpaws Supreme"? Well, I never outgrew that phase – and now I've built something that brings those childhood dreams into the digital age!
PokeForge Studio is a creative web application that transforms your wildest Pokémon concepts into fully-realized creatures, complete with stunning AI-generated artwork, detailed stats, signature moves, and immersive Pokédex entries. Whether you prefer typing out your ideas, uploading inspirational images, or – my personal favorite – drawing them from scratch, this app makes you the ultimate Pokémon creator.
The magic happens when you watch your rough sketch transform into a vibrant, professional-quality Pokémon image that looks like it could be straight from the official games. It's like having Professor Oak's lab in your browser, but with way cooler technology!

How I Used Google AI Studio
The heart of PokeForge Studio beats with Google's cutting-edge AI models, and let me tell you – they're absolutely legendary (see what I did there?).
I integrated Gemini 2.5 Flash as the brain behind the operation. This powerhouse model doesn't just generate random creatures; it crafts detailed, coherent Pokémon with:
- Rich Pokédex Entries: Complete with habitat descriptions, behavior patterns, and fascinating lore
- Balanced Stats: HP, Attack, Defense, Speed, and more – all calculated based on the creature's concept
- Signature Moves: Custom abilities that match the Pokémon's type and personality
- Type Combinations: Intelligent pairing of primary and secondary types
But here's where it gets really exciting – I paired Gemini with Imagen 4.0 for the visual generation. The workflow is like a perfectly choreographed dance:
- Gemini analyzes your input (text, image, or drawing)
- Creates a comprehensive Pokémon profile in structured JSON
- Generates an optimized visual prompt for Imagen
- Imagen brings the creature to life with stunning artwork
The synergy between these models is simply electrifying! ⚡
Multimodal Features
🎨 Drawing to Life (The Crown Jewel!)
This feature is pure nostalgia fuel. The interactive canvas supports:
- Full Color Palette: Express your creativity without limits
- Multiple Brush Sizes: From fine details to bold strokes
- Touch & Mouse Support: Draw on any device
- Smart AI Interpretation: Combines your sketch with descriptive prompts
The AI doesn't just trace your drawing – it understands it. Sketch a bird-like creature with flame patterns, describe it as "a majestic phoenix with crystal wings," and watch as Imagen creates something that captures both your artistic vision and your written concept.
prompt : a majestic phoenix with crystal wings,
📸 Image Transformation Magic
Upload any image – a photo of your pet, a cool rock formation, even abstract art – and the AI will reimagine it as a Pokémon. The multimodal processing analyzes visual elements like shapes, colors, and textures, then blends them with your optional text prompts to create something entirely new yet familiar.
prompt: A colored formation of pebbel with the power tto throw rocks and crystal formation on back and sworn enemies of bird and they camfalouge themselves to attract birds to attack them
I know i may have went overboard with this one😅
📝 Text-Based Precision Creation
For the detail-oriented trainers, this mode offers granular control:
- Choose from all 18 official Pokémon types
- Define habitats (Forest, Ocean, Mountain, etc.)
- Set power levels (Beginner, Intermediate, Legendary)
- Add special traits and characteristics
🃏 Shareable Card System
Every creation can be immortalized in two distinct card styles:
Classic Cards: Modern, portrait-style designs perfect for social media sharing. Think Instagram-ready Pokémon cards with clean aesthetics and vibrant colors.
Pokédex Cards: Retro, landscape-style cards that'll hit you right in the nostalgia feels. These capture the classic Pokédex aesthetic we all grew up loving.
Both styles are generated using HTML5 Canvas and can be downloaded instantly – no more screenshot-cropping needed!
🔄 Evolution System
Because what's a Pokémon without evolution? The AI doesn't just create a stronger version – it designs a completely new form with:
- Enhanced stats and new abilities
- Visual evolution that maintains design continuity
- Updated Pokédex entries reflecting the evolved state
- New signature moves befitting the increased power level
📚 Personal Pokédex
Your browser becomes your personal Pokémon research lab! Every creation is stored locally, creating a growing collection of your unique creatures. View detailed profiles, compare stats, and even "release" Pokémon you no longer want (though why would you ever want to?).
The Real Talk Section
Building PokeForge Studio has been like living in a weird fever dream where my childhood fantasies actually became possible. Every time I see someone's rough sketch turn into a professional-looking Pokémon with a full backstory and moveset, I still get that little kid excitement.
But beyond the nostalgia trip, this project taught me something pretty cool about AI: it's not about replacing human creativity - it's about amplifying it. My terrible drawings are still terrible, but now they can become something beautiful. My random ideas still come from my weird brain, but the AI helps me express them in ways I never could alone.
Also, I've probably created like 50 Pokémon in the past week just for "testing purposes." My personal Pokédex is getting out of hand, and I regret nothing.
If you're reading this and thinking "I wish I could turn my doodles into cool stuff too," well... now you can! And if you're a fellow adult who never grew out of their Pokémon phase, welcome to the club - we have cookies and way too many theories about type matchups.
"Gotta forge 'em all!" 🎨⚡
P.S. - Yes, I did name one of my creations "Procrastineko." It's a Normal/Psychic type that gains power by avoiding responsibilities. The AI somehow made it adorable AND relatable.
