I share your point of view and additionally believe a big factor in React's popularity in the job market is that it has the Facebook "seal of approval", which carries a weight for managers similar to presidential candidate endorsements in the US.
I would add that while React "moves fast to break things" on the bleeding edge, Vue has a much more stable, though somewhat smaller ecosystem.
Also, its naming conventions (eg for lifecycle hooks) are more straightforward and its model closer to web standards (for what it's worth)
