History Of JAVA

HISTORY:
Java was developed by James Gosling and his team at Sun Microsystems in 1991. Initially, the project was called Oak and was designed for electronic devices. Later, the name was changed to Java.

Java was officially released in 1995 by Sun Microsystems. Its main goal was to create a programming language that could run on different platforms without requiring major changes to the code. This led to the famous concept “Write Once, Run Anywhere” (WORA).

Java achieves platform independence through the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). Java source code is compiled into bytecode, and the JVM executes that bytecode on different operating systems.

In 2010, Oracle acquired Sun Microsystems, and Java development continued under Oracle.

Today, Java is widely used for backend development, enterprise applications, web applications, Android development, and large-scale software systems.
