Will AI Take My Job?

When I first heard someone's concern about AI taking their job, I automatically shrugged it off as irrational. I did that because as a programmer, I have been aware of AI for a while as it has been used in game development for several decades.

I have used AI myself in making my minigames. AI was used for the behaviour of my non-playing characters so they can appear to behave more naturally and I found AI to not be advanced enough to pose any sort of threat.

With the great tech companies letting go of thousands of their workers, the increasing rate of Chinese-made AI-powered robots performing a variety of human work from the most basic to the more advanced and with their fully automated manufacturing aka "dark factories", the World Economic Forum (WEF) talking about how AI and robotics will lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution where robots will do all the work and humans will live on universal basic income (UBI) and Elon Musk has said that he envisions a future where AI will replace most jobs and universal high income is inevitable, the threat of AI to take over people's jobs does not seem as irrational anymore.

So, I am asking on behalf of tons of people, Will AI take my job? What do you think?

Why do you think so?

I'm not sure about other sector like manufacturing industries (where robots can work).. but in terms of coding, it has already affected many jobs.

I think the peak hiring in tech is over and from this point onwards, teams will be small and with a broader skillset to manage end-to-end workflows. But then, some new fields will emerge and people will have to learn new skills. Only time will tell.

I think you are right. Also, only time will tell, absolutely.

Short answer: Not yet. Most of our work is balancing deadlines and expectations, and handling risks. And that involves a lot of human interaction. AI can't replace that yet. But sure, our job will change, given AI will generate most of the coder faster than any of us.

No, I don't believe AI can ever truly replace creative work. The reason is simple: we as humans are infinite by nature, while AI like GPT is built with limits. This idea even hints that there is some truth in creation itself, not in the religious sense, but in the idea that we are extensions of the universe own frequency. As humans, we share something deep and universal with one another. AI, on the other hand, is just a tool, a mirror that reflects our capabilities, but never creates new light on its own. In that sense, AI actually brings us closer to the essence of creation, god, not by replacing us, but by expanding what we can do.
