Browse Image Folders at Full Speed on Your MacFinder is excellent for managing files, but browsing large image folders can become surprisingly slow.
Thumbnail generation takes time. Moving between folders interrupts the workflow. Previewing an image often means switching between Finder and Quick Look, while nested folders make it difficult to keep track of the complete collection.
Folder Gallery offers a faster, more focused approach.
A Folder Tree and Image Gallery in One Window
Open an image folder and its complete structure appears in the sidebar.
Folders can be expanded and collapsed without losing your current position.
Selecting a folder displays its images as a responsive thumbnail gallery. Selecting an image opens it immediately in the large preview.
There is no import process and no proprietary photo library. Folder Gallery works directly with the folders already stored on your Mac.
Thumbnails Become Faster as You Browse
When a folder is opened, visible thumbnails are generated first.
While you continue browsing, Folder Gallery prepares the remaining thumbnails from that folder in the background. The next time you return, the gallery can appear almost immediately.
Generated thumbnails are stored only in the app’s local cache. The original images remain untouched in their existing folders.
The cache can be revealed or cleared at any time from the Tools menu.
Designed for Keyboard and Mouse
Folder Gallery supports quick navigation through both the folder tree and the current image collection.
You can:
• Expand and collapse nested folders
• Move between images with the arrow keys
• Adjust the gallery thumbnail size
• Sort by name, modification date, file size, or file type
• Zoom into images or fit them to the window
• Reveal any image or folder in Finder
Basic File Management Included
Folder Gallery is also useful for organizing an existing image collection.
Images can be dragged onto folders in the sidebar to move them. Holding Option while dragging creates a copy instead.
Files and folders can be renamed, new folders can be created, and unwanted items can be moved safely to the macOS Trash.
No Database. No Account. No Upload.
Folder Gallery does not scan your complete Mac, create a separate image catalog, or upload photos to an online service.
It only accesses folders explicitly selected through the standard macOS Open dialog.
The result is a simple and direct workflow:
Open a folder. Browse its images. Navigate the tree. Organize what is already there.
Folder Gallery brings the speed and immediacy of a dedicated image browser back to the Mac.
