2026.08 Updates

Amazon Location Service now supports POI category and density filtering in map styles
This release adds the poi-categories and poi-density query parameters to the GetStyleDescriptor API, letting developers specify an allowlist of POI categories to display and tune how many POIs appear on the map. Filtering is configured server-side, so maps render only the requested categories, such as Food & Drink, Transit, or Accommodations, at the chosen density with no additional code required on the client side.
