This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 4: Ghost in the Machine
What I Built
PhantomPulse is an AI-powered business assistant that works like a friendly ghost behind the scenes. It helps microbusiness owners monitor sales, expenses, inventory, and business performance automatically. Instead of spending hours analyzing spreadsheets, owners can receive simple insights and recommendations. Inspired by the Ghost in the Machine theme, this ghost doesn't haunt people—it hunts for hidden business problems and opportunities! 👻
How I Built It
PhantomPulse is designed using Python, Pandas, Ollama, and an Gemma. Python and Pandas analyze business data, while the AI model turns the results into easy-to-understand insights. A background scheduler runs the analysis automatically, and SQLite stores business records locally. The goal is to create a lightweight AI assistant that quietly monitors business performance without needing constant user interaction.
Why Does Open Innovation Matter?
Open-source AI makes PhantomPulse more affordable, private, and accessible for microbusinesses. By running AI models locally, business owners can analyze sensitive financial data without sending it to third-party servers or paying expensive API fees. They can also customize the AI, switch models, and run core features without an internet connection. I believe powerful AI tools shouldn't be limited to big companies—even the smallest businesses deserve their own intelligent assistant.
