One conversation can change your career.

Many students believe internships and grades are the biggest factors in career success. While they're important, another skill is

often overlooked—networking.

Networking isn't about asking someone for a job. It's about building genuine relationships, learning from others, and staying curious.

A guest lecture might introduce you to a mentor. A college event could help you discover a career path you hadn't considered. A conversation with an alumnus might lead to your first internship.

The opportunities don't always come immediately, but the connections you build today can shape your future in unexpected ways.

One lesson I've learned is this: showing up matters. Attend workshops, participate in discussions, ask thoughtful questions, and stay connected with people you meet along the way.

Your network won't replace your skills—but it can amplify them.
