Can You Use Affiliate Links On Facebook? Rules By Program And Placement

Here is how to use affiliate links on Facebook without trouble, covering the three rule layers, the six places you can post, and the disclosure habits that keep a link safe. In most cases you can use them, but the answer depends on the program, on Meta, and on where you post.

The strictest layer wins, so a link has to pass all three.

The Program Rules Come First

Meta's spam policy never names affiliate links, so the program often decides. Amazon treats social media content as your Site, which means it must follow the agreement.

Your application must identify your Site, and the details have to stay complete, accurate, and up to date. Add every Page you promote from to your account.

Amazon pays no commission on a purchase from an ad you bought, so boosting a post that holds your tagged link earns nothing. Tagged links in direct messages need an opt-in.

Cloaking and shorteners that hide the Amazon destination are barred, and so is showing prices in a post.

Meta's Rules And Your Placement

Meta's spam policy bars posting at very high frequencies, but it publishes no exact number. It also bars trading anything of value for likes, shares, or follows, and misleading links and cloaking.

Branded content has its own policy and a Paid Partnership label.

Placement matters. Meta publishes no ban on affiliate links on a personal profile, though a Page is easier to track.

Group admins write their own rules, so read them before posting. Meta announced affiliate partnerships on March 24, 2026, with Amazon as a US launch partner.

Disclose Every Link

The FTC says a disclosure belongs with the endorsement, not on an About page or behind a MORE link. It says the words "paid link" right next to the link should be adequate, while "affiliate link" alone may not be understood.

Starting a post with "Ad:" would likely work too.

A link in the comments needs the disclosure in the post, since the FTC calls a comment disclosure easily avoidable. In Reels, say it in the video itself.

Amazon also requires its Associate statement, and a Page's About section is a simple home for it.

Avoid Spam Triggers And Track Results

Meta judges patterns. Frequency, repeated content, engagement bait, redirects, and pop-ups all raise flags.

Write one fresh post per link and keep the useful parts working without the link.

Give each placement its own label so you can tell a Reel sale from a group sale. In an example with a made-up blogger named Dev, 295 clicks over four weeks led to 9 orders and $41 in commission, with Reels bringing about 59 percent of the clicks from only three posts.

Yes, you can use affiliate links on Facebook in most cases, as long as the program allows it, you follow Meta's rules, and you disclose every link.

Start small. Pick one placement, write one honest post with a clear disclosure, track the result, and grow from what works.
