OpenRouter is the biggest AI model marketplace and gateway. 400+ models, 10 trillion tokens a day, 10 million developers. and Stripe just acquired them
this is huge for the AI infra space. i work on an AI model gateway at Megallm every day so this hits close. OpenRouter basically built the layer that lets you use any AI model with one API. now Stripe wants that
makes sense actually. inference is becoming the biggest cost line item for companies. Stripe already handles payments for half the internet. adding AI model routing on top is a power move
the interesting part is they say nothing changes for users. same API, same pricing, same neutrality. but you gotta wonder how long that lasts under Stripe
