Microsoft Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Development Environment Question

Does anyone have experience actually developing in Microsoft's Virtual Desktop Environment? If so, what was your experience like?

With difficulties procuring hardware, we have considered utilizing this infrastructure. Marketing, obviously, says it will work beautifully, but I would like to gain insight into real world experience.
