The most important skill in programming is to learn how to communicate effectively with other people: listening and reading, speaking and writing. Write docs and comments unto people. Share your mistakes. Be compassionate. Those skills are more important than any technical knowledge or expertise.

I agree. You'll be happy to know then that in my "What is programming" outline over half is about non-coding skills. Mostly about communications, working together, organization, prioritization, etc.
