Cold email doesn't fail because of bad writing. It fails because senders skip the boring checks.
Here's a 5-minute audit I run on every cold email before it goes out:
1. Is the first line about them, not you?
If your first sentence contains your company name, rewrite it. Start with their problem or a recent signal.
2. One idea per email.
If you have three reasons to email someone, send one email. Multiple asks kill reply rates.
3. One link, or zero.
Every link is a distraction. One link to something useful beats three links to your site.
4. Score deliverability before you send.
Spam words, missing personalization, a broken reply-to — all of it tanks placement before anyone reads a word.
5. Send 10, then iterate.
Don't rewrite the whole template after one bounce. Send 10 personalized versions, see who replied, and fix what actually broke.
I built a free tool that runs points 2-4 automatically while you write: https://www.getcopywise.com/try
