Finally, an AI desktop tool that lets me use my own models

I've been giving Pluely a go, and I must say the workflow feels quite different from the standard method of opening another AI chat tab.
The fundamental concept is to have an AI interface on your desktop that stays on top of whatever activity you're engaged in. You can take a screenshot of a section of your screen and then ask questions about it, attach documents, or have the system listen to a conversation and produce real-time replies.

Earlier, I used Cluely because it was impressive, but the prices made me feel faint... As an alternative, I came across Pluely, which has similar features and is available for free.

A few things I found interesting:

  • It runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux

  • You can use 200+ models, including Claude, GPT, and Gemini

  • You're welcome to use your own API keys (That's really impressive, I don't need to cancel my old subscriptions)

  • It supports local CLI tools like Claude Code, Gemini CLI, OpenAI Codex, and Ollama

  • Conversation history stays local (Shhhh it's safe)

  • It can capture microphone + system audio without joining your meeting as a bot (Don't worry about your interviews)

  • The overlay is designed to stay invisible when you share your screen

The GitHub community also offers excellent support, so if you want, you can request changes and contribute to the project. Give it a go and you'll never want to stop.

Has anybody in this group already been using Pluely? What has your experience been?
