Today, I focused on building the Homepage UI, which plays a critical role in delivering a seamless user experience. The homepage design included not just the layout, but also the core content block—the Feedcard.
I began by revisiting the responsive Navigation Bar that was built earlier to ensure it integrated well with the overall homepage structure. The design phase was mentor-led, where I followed a code-along approach. This collaborative effort ensured I aligned the design with best practices and industry standards.
For the Feedcard component, I ensured that it could dynamically render posts, including user details, post images, captions, and interaction buttons like likes and comments. The layout was designed to be responsive, ensuring that users on various screen sizes, from mobile to desktop, have an optimal viewing experience.
A test-driven development (TDD) approach was followed, with well-defined test cases to guide and validate the design. This allowed for an iterative build process, ensuring each part of the UI met the necessary functional requirements. I worked through the mentor-led tutorial, addressing the various challenges that arose, refining both the aesthetic and functional aspects of the homepage design.
The Homepage UI is now complete, marking another key milestone in the Instagram clone development. Next up will be the addition of dynamic content and interactivity to further enhance the user experience.
