I’ve come to realize it’s never about "mindset" or "cognition" or whatever buzzwords people throw around. That’s all pure fluff.
Let’s talk about the only thing that actually matters: opportunity.
Why are people born in the 50s and 70s packed with so many titans and tycoons, with a density of success that leaves 80s and 90s generations in the dust? Because a few decades ago, China was rising from the ashes—everything was booming, the market was a blank canvas, and raw opportunity was everywhere.
(I won’t even bother mentioning Gen Z—right now, they haven't even had the chance to see the crumbs.)
Now, look around. Over the past 15 years, almost every single zero-to-hero story has come from emerging, fringe, and unregulated frontiers: crypto, gray-hat markets, influencers, AI, going global, and so on.
Why? Because ordinary folks—especially young people without family money—simply cannot get a seat at the resource allocation table. The industries with high margins, inelastic demand, and frequent repeat purchases are all held in an iron grip by old money. Once power enters a sector, it locks down every vantage point, cementing its hold with capital, licensing, and land, throwing up sky-high moats. Ordinary people are left to grind away in low-margin, cutthroat red oceans, wrecking their health just to make ends meet. (Remember when internet cafes were booming? A single operating license cost 600,000 RMB! Same with taxis—back when business was good, a medallion ran over 300,000 RMB!)
That’s why regular people stay trapped and can't build real wealth.
A true breakthrough only ever happens where the old guard hasn't extended its grip, where the dinosaurs can't even wrap their heads around what’s happening, and where nobody has yet rigged the game in their own favor. Look at crypto. Look at creators and influencers—they bypassed traditional media's gatekeeping and distribution, and those who stuck it out in the early days are now fabulously rich. And going global? Well, you know—you’re beyond the reach of the home turf.
Truth be told, WeChat and Alipay succeeded on the very same logic!
What I’ve been building over the past two years sits right at the intersection of AI and going global: AI Web Global Expansion. The runway ahead is staggeringly open. Honestly, I feel like those pioneers who headed south to Shenzhen 30 years ago—no established order, no rulebook, and completely free from home-field constraints.
