My advice is to be truthful. Any lie is a disqualifier. Any fib. Even blowing smoke or exaggerating. When an interviewer picks up on that, the interview is over.
I've been much more impressed with a simple "I don't know that" over confabulation of the thing the candidate doesn't know.
