I built TokenBar because AI made the bill invisible

I kept getting surprised by AI spend.

Not because I was careless. Because the cost was hidden behind dashboards, reports, and a monthly number that showed up too late.

That annoyed me enough to build TokenBar.

TokenBar lives in the menu bar and shows token usage in real time, so you can see what your tools are costing while you work, not after the bill lands.

What I wanted was simple:

• no digging through dashboards
• no waiting for a billing email to tell me I overspent
• no pretending the bill is "fine" until it isn't

The bigger lesson for me was this:
when cost is invisible, it gets ignored.
when cost is visible, people change behavior fast.

That applies to AI spend, attention, and shipping.
If the pain is hidden, fix the visibility.
