Creating a Bar Stool Using SelfCAD’s AI Assistant

Creating a Bar Stool Using SelfCAD’s AI Assistant
Through SelfCAD’s new AI Modeling feature, users can simply enter a text prompt describing what they want to create, and the AI Assistant will generate the corresponding 3D model. In this tutorial, we’ll explore how to create a 3D bar stool using SelfCAD’s AI modeling feature. We’ll start with a simple text prompt and see how the assistant turns the description into a complete bar stool design.

Once you launch the editor, click on AI modeling on the Toolbar as shown below;

The AI Assistant window below opens. We will be using the Functional Assembly mode for this model. Functional Assembly is designed for product and functional designs. It generates editable models using standard CAD tools and part-based logic. This mode is suitable when your model consists of clearly defined components or parts that need to work together.
The highlighted box indicates where we input our prompt, which will be a simple ‘Create a bar stool’, then run it.

The assistant feedback suggests the elements that will be included in the model; which in this case is Footrest, Seat, Seat frame, Leg, Backrest. Once we’ve reviewed them, we click Prepare parts

The window shows the dimensions of the model, and since we will be including all the elements, we click on Generate Elements

Beside each element in this process, you’ll see the ‘Creating’ sign. Wait until all the elements have finished generating and the sign turns to ‘Ready’. Click ‘Assemble Model’

You can review all the individual elements. Once they’re okay, click on Preview Assembly to see how the model turned out.

This is how our model turned out. We will click ‘Add to Scene’ to add it to our catalog.

You can continue modifying the model in the SelfCAD workspace as per your needs.

Summary of the Functional Assembly
