Monero Bridge Wait Times for Beginners

A Monero-to-Bitcoin swap needs the Monero payment to reach a block, then the Bitcoin payout to reach the Bitcoin network. Allow around two minutes for an average Monero block and around ten minutes per Bitcoin confirmation, but neither step has a guaranteed finish time. “Pending” can refer to either stage.

What does pending mean during the swap?

It usually means one side of the transfer is still waiting for a network event. A Monero bridge route has two separate legs: XMR leaves your wallet, then BTC is sent to your Bitcoin address. A confirmation means miners have included a transaction in a block.

  • Monero deposit: Your XMR transaction must be included in a Monero block.
  • Route processing: The service checks the deposit before arranging the other side.
  • Bitcoin payout: BTC is broadcast, then waits for inclusion in a Bitcoin block.

Monero bridge swap puts the cross-chain move and asset change into one flow, so you can track one conversion instead of arranging a separate exchange trade. Your wallet’s “sent” status only tells you about the XMR leg; it does not prove that the BTC payout has been broadcast.

Monero blocks arrive about every two minutes on average, but the route may wait for more than one confirmation. Each service sets its own deposit checks, so do not assume that seeing one block means the payout starts immediately.

After the payout is broadcast, look for a Bitcoin transaction ID, or txid: the transaction’s public identifier. A Bitcoin wallet may show the incoming BTC before its first confirmation, but the balance can remain marked unconfirmed.

How do you tell normal waiting from a problem?

Check which leg is waiting before taking action. Compare the status in the service’s order record with the transaction in the wallet that sent or receives funds.

  • No Monero confirmation: The deposit has not reached a block yet.
  • Deposit confirmed, no BTC txid: The route may still be checking the deposit or preparing the payout.
  • BTC txid present: The payout has been broadcast; Bitcoin block time now matters.

If your Monero wallet says “pending,” give the network time. Monero’s average block time is about two minutes, but actual waits vary. A wallet that is still syncing may also take longer to show a payment it has already received.

If the service shows the deposit as confirmed but there is no payout txid after its stated processing window, use the order details to contact its support. If there is a Bitcoin txid, check it in a Bitcoin block explorer, a site that displays public Bitcoin transactions. Busy blocks or a low network fee can delay confirmation beyond the roughly ten-minute average.

For any Monero bridge transfer, identify the waiting leg first: it tells you whether to wait for Monero, route processing, or Bitcoin confirmation.
