MY FIRST TASK ON HNG INTERNSHIP 8.0/14G 2021, “AN ARTICLE”.
In this article, I am going to introduce myself and also share with you; my goals and what I want to achieve by the end of the eight weeks of this HNGi8 x 14G program.
INTRODUCTION
My name is Lawal Yusuf, I am from Ogun State. I am a backend engineer. I was an alumnus of the just-finished Zuri/i4G training a couple of weeks ago, from which I gained a lot of skills and knowledge in server-side web development (backend development) with PHP/Laravel. The training wasn’t a very easy one, but I am glad I joined. I set out to find a comprehensive mentorship program that will allow me to put my skills to good use. I was drawn to a tweet by @hnginternship about the Zuri Internship Program and subsequently inspired by the company’s mission to make apprenticeships more accessible and convenient.
I am dedicated, self-motivated, committed, task oriented, efficient, practical, hardworking, honest, and approachable backend web developer, with B.Ed. in Physics and N.C.E in Computer/Physics with broad knowledge in Information Technology, website programming (Python, Scratch, and PHP), Software applications, Software installation, assembling of system, effective trouble-shooter, good at operations, maintenance of systems, E.M.I.S officer and flair for technology also willing to learn more.
My enthusiasm and commitment to excellence have served me well. I have five plus(5+) years extensive experience with I.T support engineer and website development responsibility, had the chance to significantly develop my programming skills while working as a Code Lagos facilitators, website developer and system administration in Git Solutions Ltd, Jibes_Tech, Birch Freeman Senior High School and Zuri. I also adopt a systematic approach to problem solving and implement solutions.
Most Importantly, I enrolled in this Internship as well, just like I did its training as a backend developer (server-side web developer) with PHP.

MY GOALS
I am impressed at the turnout for the Zuri Internship, with over 11,343 participants on slack at the time of writing this article. Though it seems overwhelming, it is also an excellent platform for networking with intellectuals from related fields. This is, in fact, the very same company that boasts of developing so many well-known names in the technology space in Nigeria today.
In short, my personal goals for the internship are as follows:
- Develop a better understanding of web-based systems(frontend and backend). 2 . To improve my communication, hands-on, problem solving, and programming skills.
- Develop a better understanding of user and data analysis and other web-related fields.
- Improve co-working and team-building ability through a virtual working environment to engage in self-reflection through the understanding of my personal development from a professional perspective.
- Increase personal confidence in my abilities and skills in the workplace.
- To gain beneficial knowledgeable experience from mentors to further professionally skills advancement.
WHAT I WANT TO ACHIEVE
At the end of this internship, I plan to:
- Become a reliable team member, to be able to work with anyone, anywhere in the world and transform thera ideas into reality with results driven web development.
- Get better and more proficient at my stack (backend — server-side development) using a variety of web technologies, including; Javascript, PHP, Laravel, MySql etc.
- To Make it to the final stage and become one of the graduates of the prestigious internship sponsored by i4G and HNG.
MY STACK
I enrolled in this internship for Backend — PHP, in other words, server-side web development. This means that I will be writing code that defines the logical aspect of a web application, which includes; data storage and persistence, users authorization and authentication, data analytics and dynamic flow of the application, etc.
CONCLUSIONS AND RESOURCES
In conclusion, I would thoroughly enjoy an internship at Zuri to better comprehend the occupation of a full stack web developer. I feel this is appropriate when noting my interest lies in backend development. I am, however, open to other internship tracks that coincide with my interest.
