Freelance Proposal Generator AI: Creating Proposals with Local AI

Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 2: Side Hustle Submission 💸

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 2: Side Hustle

What I Built

I built Freelance Proposal Generator AI, a Python web application that helps freelancers create proposal drafts based on a client's project requirements and the freelancer's technical skills.

Users can choose their experience level and preferred tone, generate a proposal using a local AI model, review and edit the result, check for possible issues, and download it as a text file.

I built this project to explore how open-source AI can help freelancers save time when preparing proposals. The generated content should always be reviewed and customized before sending it to a client.

Demo

Watch the demo video to see how the application generates, edits, and downloads freelance proposals using a locally running AI model.

The repository includes the Python application, required dependencies, and setup instructions in the README.

How I Built It

I built this project using Python and Streamlit to create a simple web interface. I used Ollama to run the Gemma 3 (1B) model locally, which generates proposal drafts based on the user's project requirements, technical skills, experience level, and preferred tone.

The application also allows users to review and edit the generated proposal, check for possible issues, download the proposal as a text file, and clear the generated result.

Using a locally running open-source model helped me explore AI-powered text generation without relying on a paid cloud AI API.

Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

Open innovation makes AI tools more accessible to developers and learners. Open-source models such as Gemma allow people to experiment with AI locally, understand how applications use language models, and build useful tools without depending entirely on closed AI services.

This project helped me learn how to integrate a local AI model into a Python web application and explore practical uses of AI for freelancers.
