The thing is that people are concern that they want to be perfect. I had my friend reviewing the dev.to space with @codingwithjiro and he crashed out immediately lol. The key points he pointed out is that dev.to is a space for developers to share their work and knowledge, we are NOT writers.
If we want our writing to be perfect, reread your post and find a peer reviewer. If you don't have anyone to review it too, learn it. It's harsh yes, but we became dependent on the tools to the point it becomes a replacement.
If we become dependent, we lose our ability to think for ourselves. It's important to balance AI and doing it yourself.
Spot on! Use it too much and it's like social media toxicity all over again. Doom scrolling not posts but prompts. I fear that each day, society is moving towards like the situation with Wall-E. Too dependent.
Do we blame the government and companies for allowing this or do we blame ourselves? Honestly, I don't know anymore.
Overall, it leads to you. People can show you this or that, but that decision is based on you.

I'm sure the community is aware of these AI posts flooding the feed. But what I don't like is that it seems like most take it as a norm. Might as well slap an idea on an AI and read from there. Honestly, it's starting to pile up and it now annoys me a bit too. (ps. I'm more concerned now for new software engineers checking out the site and then immediately getting hit by a ton of AI-slop titles)
I always feel bad that I don't post much on DEV, but I remind myself it is quality over quantity. A lot of my posts aren't perfect, but I also go back to my old posts from time to time to see if I can make them better. I spend a lot of time writing and editing before I actually click publish on posts.
My last post went through countless rewrites and edits before I got the version I published on DEV. I am my biggest critic, so it is less if it is perfect and more about whether it would make sense for a DEV audience.

What's funny is AI is so perfect and precise, and I believe that's what alot of tech docs strive to achieve. Precision. And now its so precise and uniform, passion has been muted out by the buzz of a million overpriced gpus. Drama for sure. Ill make a typo just for you br0. Haha.

I feel you, Mica. I've been struggling with this as well, especially at work (AI-generated Jira tickets for real take additional mental capacity to get into the task!). However, everything seems affected by low-quality generated content nowadays, and I'm also super tired of it. Seriously, it's like a zombie apocalypse 🧟♂️ I hope soon the AI bubble will just crash and things will get back to normal.

The moderation angle is the part people underestimate. If AI makes publishing easier, the scarce resource becomes trust, not text. Communities need better signals for effort, originality, and accountability, otherwise the feed fills with posts that are technically readable but socially empty.
