I recommend you to start from here
A little about my sleep schedule history
Why should you wake up early?
How to sleep early?
How to wake up early?
A little about my sleep schedule history
Ever since I was a little kid ๐ถ,
I used to go to bed early and wake up early in the morning. (9pm-6am)๐
Even in my school life I was able to maintain my sleeping habits
(10pm-6am)๐
When I joined my engineering college, I started sleeping a little late. ๐
But I had to wake up early to go to college. (11pm/12pm - 6am)๐
Eventually, in second year my schedule became 11pm - 5am and in third year it became 11pm - 4:00am/4:30am. ๐
Then, as the third year ended and burnout ruined my sleep schedule. ๐
Recently, I managed to recover from the burnout and now my sleep schedule is back to 11pm-4am. ๐
Why should you wake up early?
1. You get more time in the day
(Which is really nice, but it feels weird sometimes)
When you wake up at 4am ๐,
you are basically done with most of your daily tasks by 9am ๐ค.
You practically have a minimum of 12 productive hours in a day.
2. You get a sense of achievement
3. ๐Silence๐
4. You get a proud feeling that while most of the world is sleeping, you are working. This feeling is really good for your morale๐ฏ
5. ๐ธYou'll feel better about yourself๐ธ
You'll have a positive attitude which will help you increase your output (or at-least make you happier)
6. Youโll Have a Better Chance at Completing your tasks๐ฏ
7. You can also just take it slow
8. ๐Some health benefits ๐
- It improves your quality of sleep.
- It gives you more time to exercise.
- Not only you've more time to exercise but exercising in the morning gives maximum benefits.
- It helps you to sustain a healthier diet.
- It makes your skin look healthier(I don't have any proof though)
9. ๐Some funny (and possibly sarcastic) reasons ๐
- You can talk about it on social media.
- Internet speed is usually faster in the morning.
- Your parents will become more happier for you.
- You can brag about waking up early.
How to sleep early ?
- Screens and Caffeine are your worst enemies.
- Don't drink coffee within 6 hours of your sleep time.
- Don't sleep for long during the day.
- Stop using computers/mobile phones after 9 pm (Which is pretty unrealistic I know, but try to stop using them after 10 pm)
- Go to bed at 10 AT ANY COST
The real challenge begins now.
DON'T TOUCH YOUR MOBILE PHONES NOW ๐ฑโ
(Unless of-course it's an emergency)
I KNOW โ
IT WILL BE VERY TEMPTING ๐คค
THE CONSTANT FEELING OF CHECKING NOTIFICATIONS ๐ซ
THE CONSTANT FEELING OF CHECKING IF YOU GOT ANY NEW MESSAGE
BUT NO โ
YOU ARE STRONG ๐ค
YOU HAVE TO BE STRONG ๐
YOU HAVE TO FIGHT THIS FEELING ๐ค
YOU CAN DO IT ๐
(May be. I mean I don't really know you :P )
- Now, you have to create this new habit of sleeping early.
- If you are used to sleeping late chances are your body will be full of energy at night.
- Lay down on the bed. Stay Still.
- Don't overthink and focus on your breathing.
๐TIME FOR THE MAIN EVENT๐
How to wake up early ?
๐ Sleep early at night ๐

Set your alarm like this
Make friends with early risers and create a support system for yourself
- Ask them to call you in the morning โ๏ธ.
- Ask them to remind you to sleep early at night๐

(add the words AT+ANY+COST in the sentence while requesting)

Love it! I am gonna start from today itself. I hope one day I'll be back to thank you for this article ๐ค๐
Let me know how it works out for you ๐ฏ
(Also, remember that it will be difficult in the beginning and you might even feel fatigued )
After long such light hearted article...
Good one nirbhay ๐
Just a friendly suggestion atleast you can take minimum of 7-8hrs of sleep at night it would be beneficial for your health...๐ค
Thanks Karanโค๏ธ๐
About the 8 hours sleep, I researched about it and I found that amount of sleep required is different for everyone(adult).
I think required hours of sleep depends on your lifestyle and many other factors. As I was a student, I slept only 3-4 hours at night and it was ok. When I went to my first job (8 am-4 pm) I slept 5-6 hours.
I worked as a trainer in coding school, got lectures at 4 pm so I slept up to 10 hours per night (or per day, cause my sleep schedule was 3 am-1 pm).
Now I sleep for 8 hours while I'm back to work 8 hours a day from 9 am to 5 pm. So I found my body needed various amounts of sleep in the past depends on how intense my life was.
Also a very good article, thanks for that :)
You are absolutely correct๐ฏ
Thank you for reading and leaving a feedback :D
Waking up early is totally a different experience and it makes me feel like I have a lot of time to finish of all my tasks for the day. Although I find it difficult to wake up early daily ๐ ๐ I try to wake up at least once in a week.
That's great too Ashwin ๐ฏ
Interesting I am curious though how do you manage to keep such a sleep schedule if there are events on at a late time? Or if you have friends that like to go out late and come home late?
Once you form a habit, 1-2 day cheat doesn't ruin your sleep schedule.
One simple but effective suggestion "never set the alarm of ur favorite song or tuneโ" Set a buzzing tune.
BTW thanks for this amazing article. I used to wake up automatically during college days but the lockdown has spoiled my schedule. Again I've decided to wake up early. ๐
All the best for the positive change ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ
Love this - thank you
Thanks for reading๐ฏ
When I wake up before 10am, I am so tired that I do not manage to do anything allday
It is not the case when you form a habit to wake up early. I agree you feel fatigued in the beginning.
This is not always true! There are those of us of a different chronotype. Our circadian rhythms are different.
Same here, and I wrote a joke of a response for us!

Nice. I've found everything in "how to sleep early" to be true. But it also helps to remind myself that everything good about the next day comes from going to bed on time. Make that the priority above all else and everything falls into place.
Get about 7 to 8 hours of sleep a day, it doesn't matter when during the day you sleep. Just have a regular schedule. That's the most important thing. There are not more working hours in a day when you get up early, or late. Anybody who claims otherwise is talking bullshit. The (regular) amount of sleep you need differs between people.
As a software developer one of the most important things to do before sleeping is: winding down from work. Make sure you don't have a problem in your head you want to solve, this will keep you awake. It's not caffeine that keeps you awake, it's the brain activity.
I go to bed mostly around the same time, and I wake up mostly around the same time. I don't use an alarm or anything.
Reminds me of my first year ๐ (new place) and my bestie used to wake me up @4 (from a complete different state) it was one of the most productive and scoring year ๐
The article is precisely written ๐ Good job mate
Thanks for sharing your story.
(Also, thanks for reading and leaving a feedback :D )
I'm quite curious how is sleeping 5 hours a day healthy. Could you share some sources? Until now everyone always convinced me that 6 hours is a healthy minimum.
Waking up early does not make the day any longer. Working from 9.00 to 17.00 is a more healthy schedule IMHO. Waking up at 4.30 (why not at 3.30, 3.00, or 2.00 ?? :-) ) gives just a "false sense of productivity" with negative impact on social life, family time, and even health (if you don't sleep enough hours)..
