What is MCM/ICM?

The Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM)® and Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (ICM)® are international contests that challenge high school students and college undergraduates to analyze, model, solve, and present solution reports to an open-ended application problem.

What is the date for MCM/ICM 2023?

The upcoming contest dates for MCM/ICM are from February 16 to February 20, 2023. These contests are designed to develop students’ research, analytics, and applied intelligence skills, as well as their time management and problem-selection abilities.

Who are the participants for MCM/ICM 2023?

The contest teams, consisting of up to three students, are given six problem choices over the contest weekend. The MCM offers three problem choices: Problem A (continuous), Problem B (discrete), and Problem C (data insights). The ICM offers three problem choices: Problem D (operations research/network science), Problem E (sustainability), and Problem F (policy).

Why should I participate in MCM/ICM 2023 Contest?

Participating in MCM/ICM contests offers real-world problem-solving opportunities, international recognition, and skill development. Successful participation yields an impressive credential for student resumes and provides an advantage when applying for internships and jobs. Schools benefit from the recognition and the impetus to develop more applied courses. The contest demonstrates support for the meaningful application of classroom topics to real-world problems.

What is the award for MCM/ICM winners?

MCM/ICM also offers teams and schools the chance to win prizes. The International COMAP Scholarship Award is awarded to the four (4) top MCM/ICM teams from any of the participating countries/regions. The team members split $9000, and $1000 goes to their school. Awards will be announced on or before April 30th each year. COMAP partners with five other professional organizations to provide additional awards to MCM/ICM teams.
