I use MacDown, which, as the name implies, is a Mac only application. It works nicely for a straight Markdown editor. I switched during a period when Mou ceased to be updated and had some issues (it appears to be a paid tool now).
Obviously, Visual Studio Code is an adequate Markdown editor and even has a decent preview mode.
