Every engineering team has experienced this.
The codebase starts clean.
A few months later...
Components become 500+ lines long.
Anonymous components start appearing everywhere.
Inline callbacks cause unnecessary re-renders.
Array index keys sneak into production.
Large synchronous imports increase bundle size.
Circular dependencies appear.
Feature boundaries slowly disappear.
Performance regressions are only discovered after deployment.
None of these issues are syntax errors.
None of them are TypeScript errors.
Most linters don't understand architectural intent.
By the time they're discovered during code reviews, they're already spread across the codebase.
That's why I built Prism Guard.
Prism Guard is an open-source Frontend Architecture Intelligence Platform for React and TypeScript projects.
Instead of only checking formatting or syntax, it analyzes your codebase for architectural, performance, and React best-practice violations.
Current capabilities
โ React architecture rules
- Nested Components
- Inline JSX callbacks
- Anonymous Components
- Array Index Keys
- Excessive useEffect
- Large Components
- Unstable Context Providers
โ Performance analysis
- Expensive renders
- Bundle budget checks
- Heavy synchronous imports
- Missing lazy loading
- Dynamic import recommendations
โ Architecture analysis
- Circular dependencies
- Feature boundary violations
- Folder structure validation
- Component complexity
- Excessive props
- Dependency direction
- Duplicate hooks
- Cognitive complexity
- Reports
- Interactive Console Report
- HTML Dashboard
- JSON Output
- SARIF Output (GitHub Code Scanning ready)
- Configurable
Customize rules using a simple prism.config.json.
Example:
{
"react": {
"maxHooks": 3,
"maxComponentLines": 250
}
}
Installation
npm install -D @prism-guard/cli
Run:
`npx prism-guard analyze`
Why I built it
After spending years building large-scale frontend platforms, micro-frontends, and design systems, I noticed that most teams have excellent tooling for:
Formatting
Linting
Unit testing
Type checking
โฆbut very little that continuously enforces frontend architecture.
Prism Guard aims to fill that gap.
Roadmap
The first release is only the beginning.

I'd love feedback from the community.

your contributions are welcome.
Issues, feature requests, rule ideas, and pull requests are all appreciated.
Let's build something that helps frontend teams maintain healthy codebases at scale.
