The less a wrap is exposed to elements, the more it'll last. If maintained properly, the car wrap could last for up to five years, says Holz. But excessive exposure to sunlight could "bake in" the vinyl wrapping, making it more difficult to remove and drastically reducing its life. If you park your car in the street but don't maintain it cleanly, the wrap could be able to last only one calendar year, Holz said.

It could cost around $1,500 for a small car and $1,800 for an SUV. This is in addition to the amount you already pay for the wrapping.
How Do You Maintain a Wrapped Car?
The best method to ensure that a cover will last is to store the vehicle in the garage. If you do not have a garage, consider investing in a quality car cover. It is recommended to wash the car using fluffy microfiber cloths. Holz recommends a non-water vehicle wash. Automated car washes aren't allowed. The sharp brushes may scratch or break off of the plastic wrap.
How to Remove a Car Wrap
If it's the time when you're ready to let your cargo, or even if you need to revert in the same paint colour, you'll return the car to the place which put the wrap on. If the wrap is still holding its structural stability, removing it is as simple as pulling off a band-aid. The procedure could take about three to four hours and can cost anywhere from $500 to $600. The difficult removal process will cost significantly more. If the wrap is baked and starts to break after the shop has removed it, be prepared to pay approximately $2,500 for additional labour.
The shop removes any sticky wrap residue using glue remover. After that, the vehicle receives another clay bar detailing to eliminate any impurities in a clear coat. The wrap shouldn't be damaging the paint. If all is going well, this is the ideal scenario. If the colour was not in good condition or was repaired using a thinner coating, there may be a chance that a portion of the paint could fall off when wrapping.
It's Not for Everyone
Although a car wrap may give a new look to your car's appearance, it's not something you can put on and then forget about. The location you live in is important: The salt that melts snow off highways in states with cold temperatures can be difficult on vinyl. In the same way, if you reside in a hot area and leave your car wrapped in the sun all day and the sun is hot, it can take its toll.
If you own a garage or a cover and are willing to cope with the extra maintenance cost, a wrap could make your car stand out from the crowd.
