Welcome to the journey! Start with HTML - to make it more fun, learn some CSS at the same time so you can make it look decent. I STRONGLY suggest learning through Udemy courses - they can normally be purchased for between $9.99 and $15.99 USD. (If they cost more than that, just wait for a sale - they happen every 3-5 weeks usually.) There are several excellent instructors, and each course has an active Question and Answer section for every single lecture. This helps provide a sense of community and motivation as well as answers. Look for courses where the instructor and TA;s are actively answering. Check out the free preview vids for the courses to see if you like the instructor's voice and pacing.

Strong advice: find a coding buddy to help keep you accountable, and also: DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE ABOUT LEARNING TO BE A DEV IN 6 MONTHS. IT ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN THAT QUICKLY. This is a marathon journey, not a sprint. That being said, realize you'll have your ups and downs. Develop a coding habit - better to be learning/code an hour each day rather than all day for 3 days then take a break. Daily work allows you to mentally review and let things sink in. To stay motivated, balance tutorial projects/exercises with something of your own that you're interested in. Make it small and simple - a good starting place with html is a resume.

My personal favorite Udemy instructors are John Smilga, Brad Schiff, and Jonas Schmedtmann for most topics. All 3 have basic webdev courses, and do dedicated Javascript, React, and other courses. As you get more advanced, you'll find more courses and topics to cover - you'll need to learn Figma to mock up projects, Github commands to set up an online coding presence, and you need to be grounded in color theory and design principles to make things look good, even if your goal is to eventually be a dev and not a designer. The individuals I mentioned will get you well grounded to begin with, and can take you far beyond basics. I am a former web designer on a journey to be a dev - and I've taught web design for over 15 years - so I have street credibility in what I'm saying. It's not a short journey - but it IS A REWARDING one! Good luck!

Hi,
Do you have any experience with coding prior to this journey?
Web might not be the "best" (if there's any) path to start learning.
Keep us updated, feeling overwhelmed can happen super fast.
