I was 16, I used to have a desktop computer which was running windows 7. I used to save up my lunch money to buy programming language books. C was my first, they came with the instruction of installing visual studio. A friend introduced me to Code Blocks instead of visual studio & the story begin. I remember the joy I felt within me when I first successfully ran "Hello World!". Couple of years later when I enrolled in University, I started seeking help of the books for mostly programming or language courses. I started spending more time in the library and I was there even in the weekends. I was even carrying the PDFs in phone so I could read them during my ride back home. Somehow from a very young age I began to rely on books & somehow this stuck with me even now there are so many tutorials on so many platforms such as Udemy, SkillShare, CourseEra but I somehow find myself searching on the internet for books for the course I am learning. I enjoy going through each words of each line as I acknowledge & memorize. Learning is an endless journey. I guess I am still exploring and trying to figure out what works best for me. I'm willing to watch tutorial & read book to learn. Leave a comment below about which one you prefer the most. Is it book? Is it tutorial? Or both?

You don't really have choose.
The training is the foundation, and the book is a good complement to it.
In my opinion it is necessary to give courses 40% of time, books 10%, and practice 50% for the quickest results.
That's how they do it in college (only in bad universities they give less time to practice).
Since I started learning from tutorials, I haven't read from books which I used to do earlier at the beginning of my college days. Although I would say this has affected my hobby as a reader too.

Umm... I choose docs because it's made by developers for developers and docs are best resource for reference.
I wish I had the patience. I can never just sit down and read a programming book. I put it next to me when I am by the computer, to follow the steps, but end up getting distracted and never getting past two pages

When you are with pc then video tutorials, when you are not, then books also when you are tired of looking pc screen books again. This is my way, but It is totally how do you enjoy it.
I often get tired of look at the pc screen. That's why I print out my power point slides and read them from hand note.
It depends on the situation.
Tutorials can be useful to learn about a specific area and get a practical introduction. Books tend to be better for explaining theory and concepts overall or have them as a reference to lookup things in, for whatever the topic may be. This also depends on the purpose of the book - explanation or reference.

Books are great for general concepts as they give you more knowledge and you will have more understanding of a specific language than others how simply rely on vid tutorials
For example when I started learning about js from books I understand a lot of concepts which I see others struggling with
and of course you will have to learn from tutorials cause they are more up-to-date specially full courses as they give the experience of other developers

It depends, if I am looking for a very specific solution I go with tutorials. I go for book when I trying to understand deeper concepts.
