How I Look at the B2B SaaS Stack
I’ve been thinking about how enterprise SaaS products are built, and it’s actually pretty interesting once you break it down in simple layers. We usually only see the final screen or dashboard, but there’s a whole chain behind it — the cloud setup, the APIs, the internal modules, the integrations, and finally the part users touch.
When I understand these layers, writing about SaaS becomes a lot easier. Nothing feels vague. I know who uses what and why a feature even exists. It helps whether I’m writing a quick walkthrough or explaining a product to someone who has never touched it before.
And honestly, most of the work is just matching the explanation to the person reading it. Engineers care about APIs and data flow. Business people care about how the tool fits into their daily work. Once I know that, the whole thing becomes straightforward to write about.
