Hey! I've been developing for about 15 years now, self taught. I primarily use Go, Javascript, Swift, and Java in my day-to-day. I'm always open to learn new things. I think my next thing to tackle will be TypeScript. I came here because of some link on some website, and stuck around for the great articles.

newb stumbles in from participating in tech forums and bulletin boards, clutching their face, screaming

"Arghhhh! My eyes!"

...peeks around...

"Oh, thank GAWD, a UI that doesn't suck.."

Praise be to dev.to for providing a forum not hiding behind dense layers of jargon and emojis from 20 years ago.

As a journo of (gulp) 40+ years, I have been a long-time mouth breather when it comes to developer matters. But I've also learnt that non-tech people can spot errors, gaps and other issues, sometimes faster than techs, too frantic with code to worry about user experience.

Bigger picture, very interested in #tech #ethics when it comes to freedom of expression and access to information. This includes privacy aspects of open source, much less scrutinised than say Windows.

Having had a quick look around, this is a first time in a while I've looked forward to learning more. Can tell from the almost cunningly simplistic interface that there's been quite some thought lavished.

Hi all!

I did only discovered this site today due to a very good article about choosing a monitor for code development, and this community seems great!!

I've a vast experience in software development and project management but I'm currently dedicated to iOS development and specially interested on that field.

Hope to learn with some of you and also help whenever I can...

Cheers,
Ricardo

Hello my name is Kenneth, thank you for having me here. I have been a C++ programmer for a long time. I think since the day after Bjarne signed off on it's release to the world. I did some work on the solaris os at sun. At this other place I built compilers and linkers, lexical analyzers and such. These days its graphics pipeline stuff. I spent some time focused on building data visualization tools and simulations for scientific researchers. Right now I am using the Unreal Engine framework to build games for VR. Having fun with that. Hope to not starve now that I've gone rogue as an artist. It's nice to meet all of you.

Hello! Currently learning how to develop Java web applications after coming from a primarily PHP/WordPress/HTML/CSS/jQuery background with a now-obsolete Zend PHP engineer certification. I took a 3-year hiatus from full-time coding to part-time and am officially back to full-time!

This year I aspire to do the following:

  • Create an AMP-native WordPress theme
  • Create a more flexible SOAP client for Java developers
  • Pass the Oracle Certified Professional exam for Java 1.8
  • Create a monetized URL shortener

Looking forward to learning from and interacting with this community!
