We've all been there. Someone drops a "we should hang out soon 🙌" in the group chat. Twenty reactions, zero follow-through. The message gets buried under memes and voice notes, and three weeks later you're still "figuring out a date."
We built FOMO Social to solve this.
What it is
FOMO Social is a focused app for organizing real-world hangouts. Not another messaging app, not a calendar, not a polls-in-WhatsApp workaround.
You create an activity (dinner, hike, game night, etc), set a time and place, pick a capacity, and invite the right people. That's it. No noise.
A few things I'm proud of:
- Circles: Organize your contacts by vibe (gym crew, uni friends, coworkers) so you're always inviting the right group.
- Recurring activities: Set up your weekly coffee run once and it handles itself.
- Smart notifications: Reminders fire automatically for confirmed attendees, 1 hour before and at the start time.
- Privacy controls: Decline an invite discreetly, keep visibilty under activities friends-only, or go fully private. Available on iOS, Android, and web
Why I'm sharing this
I'm at the early stages and I genuinely want real feedback from people who care about product quality. If you've ever wished coordinating plans with friends felt less like herding cats, give it a shot.
Would love to hear what you think in the comments. What's confusing, what's missing, what works.
Built with React, Capacitor, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and Firebase. Happy to talk tech if anyone's curious.
