I feel like I'm reading a Slashdot forum post from 2001.

Mess around with Linux. Have fun with it. It's quirky, but worth learning.

But, no: if you are focused on locking into a single OS as "better for programming", you need to broaden your horizons: think about how many different ways there are for how many different kinds of code to run and solve how many different kinds of problems. Use the best tool for the job that you feel you know well enough to work with a sufficient degree of competence. That's it.
