Pixelated product photos are not always an upscaling problem.
Sometimes the file is too small.
Sometimes it has been compressed too many times.
Sometimes the product was out of focus at capture.
Sometimes the crop is wrong.
Sometimes the product detail is missing, and an AI tool has to guess.
That last case is risky for ecommerce.
If an image enhancer changes stitching, ports, labels, texture, packaging, color, or included parts, the final image may look cleaner while becoming less accurate.
My practical workflow:
Find the best original file.
Check focus at 100%.
Check compression around product edges.
Decide whether the issue is global or local.
Upscale only when real detail still exists.
Retouch when only certain areas are damaged.
Reshoot when the image cannot prove the SKU.
