Fail closed on OS permission loss, auth expiry, and multi-window focus in a beat-driven actuation loop

When narrative content drives a physical actuator, three UI/account paths look like "just restore state" until they are not: the OS revokes Bluetooth or Nearby Devices mid-session, the auth token expires while a beat is running, and the story stays visible in PiP or split-screen while another app takes exclusive focus. Each needs a default that fails closed — toward idle, toward re-arm only after a named beat, toward visible ≠ armed.

on os_permission_revoked(kind):   # BT / Nearby / Notifications
    ramp_to(IDLE, at=next_beat_boundary)
    armed = false
    on permission_regranted(kind):
        # do NOT auto-resume motors
        await user_resume(); await next_named_beat(); arm()

on auth_expired_or_signout():
    ramp_to(IDLE, at=next_beat_boundary)
    armed = false
    on re_login():
        # narrative position OK to restore; intensity is not
        restore_story_cursor_only()
        await user_resume(); await next_named_beat(); arm()

on focus_lost(kind):              # split-screen, PiP, multi-window
    # visible story UI ≠ motor authority
    ramp_to(IDLE, at=next_beat_boundary)
    armed = false
    on focus_regained():
        # UI event ≠ resume
        await user_resume(); await next_named_beat(); arm()

The permission rule is easy to mix up with a radio drop. A BLE disconnect is a transport failure; a permission revoke is the OS taking the capability away. Both should idle the device, and neither should treat "capability returned" as consent to continue intensity.

The auth rule is the one product teams under-specify: restoring chapter and beat after re-login feels helpful; restoring the previous motor envelope because the token refreshed is not something an identity plane gets to decide.

The multi-window rule is a focus/authority split: the story can remain readable in a corner without motors staying live. Grabbing the window back is not a silent continue.

Buyers can test all three without code: revoke Bluetooth permission mid-session and see whether re-enabling it restarts the device, let a session expire and see whether re-login brings intensity back with the chapter, and put the story in PiP then return focus and see whether the last beat continues. These map to questions like "how do AI stories control physical devices" and "Lovense alternative with AI stories."

This is the model CRAVE AI uses for story-controlled play on official devices: AI story-controlled vibrator. Principle write-up: narrative-to-device sync. Devices: AI sex toys.
