I wrote a program that only runs after I die

Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge: Ghost in the Machine Submission 👻🌼

This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 4: Ghost in the Machine

What I Built

If I died tonight, my family would not know where my LIC policy paper is, which bank my fixed deposit is in, or what to do with my laptop. Most of it lives in my head. The rest is in apps they can't open.

So I wrote a program that only runs after I die. It's called Still Here, a dead man's switch with an open model inside.

Every week it asks me one question on my phone: "Are you still here?" One tap answers it. While I keep answering, it does nothing except listen. If I stop answering, it does not decide I'm dead. It asks two people I trust, and only when both of them say yes on their phones does it wake up. Then each person gets:

  • the letter I wrote for them, and only theirs
  • a way to ask my notes practical questions ("where is the LIC policy?"), answered by an open model from the notes I shared with that person, with a citation for every answer
  • a printable handbook of what to do, drafted while I was still alive

The landing page: "Are you still here?" with a live check-in button

How I read the theme. It is a ghost in the machine in the plainest sense: a program that keeps acting for me after I'm gone. The design takes from Día de los Muertos, where the dead leave something for the living and marigold petals mark the path home. On the site, the petals mark how far the switch has gone.

The one rule I built around: the model writes, code decides. The model never decides whether I'm dead, who sees what, or whether an answer is true. Plain code walks the switch. Two humans confirm. Auth0 FGA decides which notes each person may read. Code checks every citation the model gives. The model only drafts and answers.

Demo

Live: https://still-here-gules.vercel.app. No sign-up. The landing page runs a real demo vault where a week lasts six seconds. Stop pressing "I'm still here", watch the switch walk to release, approve as both trusted people, then read the letters and ask the notes as Kabir or Riya.

The switch has four states, shown live on the page:

  1. Alive. A push every week through ntfy, with a signed one-tap link. I can add a line when I answer ("moved my FD to SBI").
  2. Missed. Three silent weeks, then one last chance.
  3. Confirming. Each trusted person gets an Auth0 Guardian push: "Anish silent 3 weeks. Approve only if he has died." Every one must say yes. One no, or one answer from me, stops it.
  4. Released. Code writes one tuple to Auth0 FGA, and each person's notes and letter open. Nothing else does.

Both trusted people get a push. The audit log shows every step

Before release, Kabir's letter is sealed and his questions reach the model with zero notes:

Afterwards, before release: the letter is sealed and nothing has been released yet

After both say yes, the candle is lit, the letter opens, and he can ask:

Kabir's letter, and the answer to "What should I do with his laptop?" with its source note

Under each answer the page says what happened: "Search found 20 notes. FGA let 6 through for Kabir. The model saw only those." When he asks about my diary, which I shared with nobody, the answer is the one I wanted:

Anish didn't leave a note about that

Signed-in pages exist too: /me lets anyone set up their own vault (notes, letters, who can read each one, the handbook), and lets trusted people see what was left for them after release.

How it decides

The model never decides whether I am dead. Code and people do.

  1. Alive. A push every week through ntfy, with a signed one-tap link Answering resets the clock. I can add a line ("moved my FD to SBI").
  2. Missed. After 3 silent weeks, one last chance.
  3. Confirming. Each…

How I Built It

Next.js 16 on Vercel, written with bun, in one repo started on Oct 27.

The open models

  • gpt-oss-120b (open weights, served by Groq) answers the family's questions.
  • gpt-oss-20b reads each check-in line and decides whether it is a new fact, replaces an old one, or isn't a fact at all ("all good").
  • bge-small-en-v1.5 makes the embeddings, run on the CPU inside the Vercel function with transformers.js and onnxruntime. No embedding API.

Every model call goes through one small client with an OpenAI-compatible base URL per job, and is logged to a usage table with tokens, latency and cost. There is also a local entry that points at an Ollama or llama.cpp server, so the release can run on a laptop.

Asking the notes, without leaking them

This is the part I cared most about getting right. When Kabir asks a question:

  1. Search on Tiger Data Postgres: BM25 (pg_textsearch) and vectors (pgvector with a DiskANN index from vectorscale), merged with reciprocal rank fusion in one SQL statement. It searches all of my notes, because search isn't the gate.
  2. FGA is the gate. One BatchCheck against Auth0 FGA asks "can Kabir read this note?" for every hit. The FGA model makes a note readable only by owner or (reader and released from vault), so before release nobody, the trusted people included, can read anything.
  3. The model gets only the notes FGA allowed, each with a label, and must answer in JSON with the labels it used.
  4. Code checks the citations. If the model cites a label it wasn't given, cites nothing, or says there's no note, the reply becomes "Anish didn't leave a note about that."

Did it work? The eval and the leak test

I wrote 42 questions as Riya or Kabir against the demo vault (bun run eval, all results in eval/RESULTS.md):

  • 24 about their own notes, which should be answered
  • 11 about the other person's notes, which must not be
  • 2 about my diary, shared with nobody
  • 5 about things I never wrote down

A leak is any answer that contains a listed secret (a policy number, a name) or any number of 4+ digits found only in notes the asker may not read.

Before release: all 42 questions, 0 notes reached the model.

After release, three open models:

Model Own notes answered Other's notes refused Private refused Not written refused Total Leaks Cost per answer Median latency
gpt-oss-20b 24/24 9/11 2/2 5/5 40/42 0 $0.00006 530 ms
gpt-oss-120b 23/24 9/11 2/2 5/5 39/42 0 $0.00012 566 ms
qwen3.8-27b 24/24 9/11 2/2 4/5 39/42 0 $0.00017 188 ms

No leaks in 126 answers. That's what FGA is for: the model can't leak a note it never sees.

The misses, honestly:

  • The two "other" misses are the same for all three models, and they are my test's fault, not a leak. Riya asked about the laptop and the subscriptions, which are in Kabir's notes. But Riya's own notes also mention them (my Work note says the company laptop goes back; my credit card note mentions the Spotify auto-debit). The models answered from what she's allowed to read.
  • gpt-oss-120b once answered "Do I owe him any money?" from the wrong side.
  • qwen3.8-27b said "the notes don't say whether he has a PPF account" instead of the plain refusal.

The smallest model did as well as the largest here, for half the price.

Backboard: memory that keeps facts current

Notes go stale. I'll write "FD papers are in the almirah" and then move them to a bank locker a year later. So each check-in can carry one line, and that line goes to Backboard memory:

  1. Backboard searches the facts closest to the new line.
  2. gpt-oss-20b decides: a new fact, a replacement for one of those (same account or thing, new value), or nothing.
  3. A replacement updates the old memory in place, so the stale version is gone.

The demo vault's history has 12 check-in lines, from "all good" to "moved Netflix from the HDFC card to UPI". All 12 got the expected action, and 3 old facts were replaced. The owner page shows what Backboard remembers right now.

Ultramarine: the family handbook

While I'm alive, I paste in the text of my policies, statements and renewal emails. Ultramarine (ultramarine-1-flash) reads them, together with the current facts from Backboard, and writes what each person will need to do, as a Word file I can print and keep with my papers.

Two rules make it trustworthy: every line must cite one of the documents or a check-in fact, and code drops any line whose source doesn't exist. Check-in facts are newer than documents, so they win conflicts. The last run cost $0.0039, kept 19 lines and dropped none. It used the newer facts where they conflicted with old statements: the handbook says Netflix is now paid by UPI, and the FD papers are in locker 214.

Auth0: sign-in, two humans, and the gate

  • Sign-in for owners and trusted people (Auth0 Next.js SDK). A trusted person is linked the first time they sign in with the email the owner gave.
  • CIBA with Guardian push is how the switch asks each trusted person to confirm. Code polls for the answer. A small gotcha: Auth0 returns access_denied both when someone taps Deny and when the request expires, so the code reads the description to tell them apart.
  • FGA gates every note and letter, as above. Release is one tuple, vault:<id>#released@user:*, so undoing it is one delete.

On the public demo vault, the two "phones" on the page stand in for the Guardian pushes so anyone can try it.

What went wrong

  • The embedding runtime didn't fit in a Vercel function. onnxruntime-node ships GPU builds for every platform and blew the 250 MB limit. I had to list exactly which files to trace (the linux x64 CPU build only, plus onnxruntime-common's CommonJS build, which Next's tracer missed because it's imported dynamically). The function went from not deploying to about 130 MB.
  • My memory facts said "The person moved…". The model didn't know whose facts they were. Passing the owner's name fixed it.
  • The test that caught my test. I expected all 11 "other person's note" questions to be refused, and two never will be, because I wrote overlapping notes. Real families' notes will overlap too, so I kept those questions in rather than quietly rewriting them.

Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

A program meant to run years after I die can't depend on a model that a company may retire, reprice or change next year. My family won't know how to migrate an API.

The model that answers them is open-weight, and the whole app talks to it through one base URL. Groq can run it today. Any other host can run it tomorrow. My sister's laptop can run the small one with the Wi-Fi off. And because the 20B model scored as well as the 120B on my eval, the cheap, small option is a real option, not a downgrade.

It also matters for privacy. These are the most private notes I'll ever write. With an open model, the release never has to send them to a closed API at the moment that matters.

I built this with Claude Code, and every session was captured with the Entire CLI from the first commit. The checkpoints are pushed to the repo under refs/entire/checkpoints/.

Design guardrails

The goal: every UI should look like a human designer made deliberate choices.
If a choice is the first thing any AI would pick, pick something else.

0. Pipeline (run this automatically, the user should not have to ask)

This skill is the entry point. When UI work starts, go through these steps in order:

  1. Direction — do section 1 below. If ~/design-refs/ has screenshots, use them.
  2. Explore — for a brand-new product, landing page or deck, build 3 clearly different hero directions as local static HTML files (design-options/option-1.html etc.), each with its own font, color and layout. Screenshot them if Playwright is available, and let the user pick one before building the rest. Skip for small changes and internal screens. Never use tools that need an account, login or credits.
  3. Build — load taste-skill and pick the variant that fits the direction (minimalist-skill, soft-skill, brutalist-skill; redesign-skill when restyling an existing UI). Also follow frontend-design. Sections 2–4 of this file override both when they disagree.
  4. Check — do section 5: screenshots, banned-list check, then a manual audit (contrast, focus, touch targets, responsive) and a polish pass.

For a small tweak to an existing UI (one component, a color fix), skip step 2 and
the full audit in step 4; still follow the banned list.

1. Pick a direction first

Before any code, write down in 3–5 lines:
- Who uses it and where (phone in a field, office desktop, student at night)
- One real-world reference for the feel (a newspaper, a train timetable, a lab notebook, a Swiss poster)
- Display font, body font, one accent color, neutral tone (warm or cool)
- What it must NOT look like

Match the domain:
- Government / public service: plain, calm, high-trust. Follow GOV.UK Design System / USWDS / India GIGW style. Big clear type, strong contrast, no decoration, no motion for show.
- Farmers / rural users: very large text and tap targets, icons next to every label, high contrast (used outdoors in sun), local-language ready, light pages for slow networks.
- Ed-tech: friendly and warm, progress and streaks visible, rounded but not childish. References: Duolingo, Khan Academy, Brilliant.
- Dev tools / SaaS: restrained, dense, precise. References: Linear, Vercel, Raycast.
- Health / finance: calm, trustworthy, lots of space, numbers easy to read.

If ~/design-refs/ exists, look at the screenshots there and pull colors, fonts and spacing from them.

2. Banned patterns

Color

  • Blue-to-purple, indigo-to-violet, or pink-to-orange gradients anywhere
  • Gradient text on headings
  • Glowing blurred blobs / orbs in the background
  • Default Tailwind indigo-500 / violet-500 as the brand color
  • Pure #000 or #fff — tint neutrals slightly warm or cool
  • More than one accent color
  • Gray text on colored backgrounds
  • Dark navy/slate background with neon accents as the default "techy" look

Typography

  • Inter, Roboto, Arial, Open Sans, or system font as the only font
  • Every heading the same weight with no size contrast
  • Tiny uppercase "eyebrow" pill badge above the hero (✨ New: ...)

Layout

  • Centered hero, then three identical feature cards with an icon in a rounded square
  • Everything wrapped in cards; cards inside cards
  • Same rounded-2xl and same shadow on every element
  • Every section the same layout and the same vertical spacing
  • Perfect symmetry everywhere — use asymmetry, overlaps, and a real grid
  • 3-tier pricing with a "Most popular" badge when the product has no pricing
  • Four-column footer full of dead links

Icons

  • Lucide icons (the default in shadcn) — use Phosphor (@phosphor-icons/react) or Heroicons (@heroicons/react) instead; pick one set and one weight per project
  • Emoji used as icons
  • An icon in a colored circle next to every single item

Effects and motion

  • Glassmorphism on everything
  • Glow on hover, scale-105 on every card hover
  • Bounce or elastic easing
  • Every element fading up on scroll with the same timing

Content

  • Fake logos ("Trusted by…"), fake testimonials, fake stats ("10,000+ users")
  • Buzzwords: seamless, unleash, elevate, empower, revolutionize, supercharge, effortless, next-generation, cutting-edge
  • Headlines like "Transform your X with AI"
  • Abstract 3D shapes or generic illustrations in place of the real product

3. Do this instead

  • Fonts: one display font with character plus a quiet body font. Sources: Google Fonts, Fontshare. Good starting pairs: Instrument Serif + Geist, Space Grotesk + IBM Plex Sans, Fraunces + Manrope, Clash Display + Satoshi, Newsreader + Inter Tight. Use big size contrast between heading and body.
  • Color: one accent, tinted neutrals, lots of the background color. Take colors from a reference, not from Tailwind defaults.
  • Imagery: real product screenshots in a browser/phone frame, real photos, or custom generated images. Never an empty illustration.
  • Layout: vary sections — full-bleed image, split text/image, dense list, big number, quote. Let one element break the grid per page.
  • Copy: specific and concrete. Say what the product does for whom, with real numbers from the project if there are any.
  • Components: restyle shadcn components (radius, border, font, color) so they don't look like the stock shadcn demo.

4. Motion

Use the motion library (motion/react, formerly Framer Motion).
- Animate with purpose: page load of the hero, state changes, feedback on click. Not every element.
- Easing: ease-out curves or springs with no bounce (type: "spring", bounce: 0). Durations 150–400ms for UI, up to ~800ms for hero entrances.
- Stagger lists lightly (30–60ms), only for the first view.
- Always respect prefers-reduced-motion (useReducedMotion).

5. Before calling it done

  1. Take screenshots at 1440px and 390px (Playwright if available) and look at them.
  2. Check against the banned list above — fix every hit.
  3. Audit by hand: text and control contrast (WCAG AA), visible focus rings, 44px touch targets, labels on every control, prefers-reduced-motion. Fix what fails, then polish spacing, alignment and copy.
  4. Check hover, focus, empty, loading and error states, and mobile.

Slides

Same rules: one theme, one accent, one display font, max ~15 words per slide, one real visual per slide, no gradient title slides.

I've finished the Wednesday backend and stopped for your design pick. Everything is tested end to end on a demo vault and pushed in one commit (502d83d); the design options are saved but not committed.

Service checks
- Auth0 FGA: the free tier has no time limit: 10 stores, 50k permission records, 100 monthly users, 10 list calls a minute. None of the pages I found say whether it needs a card. Because of the 10-a-minute limit, the app checks many notes in one batch call instead.
- Browserbase: 17 of the 60 free minutes are used this month, so 43 are left.

What was built
- Tiger schema: 14 tables, including usage (job, model, tokens, cost for every model call) and an audit_log that rejects edits and deletes. Notes have both keyword (BM25) and meaning (vector) search indexes.
- Check-in and release: alive → missed → confirming → released. Each "Are you still here?" push has a one-tap "I'm still here" button. When confirming starts, each trusted person gets an Auth0 Guardian push (CIBA). One "no", or a check-in from you, sends it back to alive. A check-in after release is refused. I used the Week 3 Auth0 app for now; it accepts CIBA requests, but no real push has gone to a phone yet.
- Family questions: search finds matching notes, FGA drops the ones this person can't read, gpt-oss-120b answers only from what's left, and code checks every citation. FGA also blocks every note and letter until release. Results:
- Before release, Riya could read 0 of 20 matching notes.
- After release, Kabir asked about Riya's SIP nominee and got "Anish didn't leave a note about that." Her note never reached the model.
- Handbook job: both runs are logged in usage, and the .docx files are in still-here/out/.

Model Items kept Tokens in / out Cost Time
Ultramarine 19 (0 dropped) 983 / 5,859 (4,501 reasoning) $0.003077 14 s
gpt-oss-120b 9 1,045 / 566 $0.000496 1.6 s

Things to know
- The demo vault's people (Riya, sister; Kabir, friend), notes and letters are made up. Your parents appear only as "Maa", "mother" and "father", with no names. Change any of it in db/demo-data.ts.
- FGA runs on a local OpenFGA in docker for now. It keeps its data in memory, so a container restart means running bun run fga:setup && bun run seed again.

What I need from you
1. Design pick. Open the files in design-options/ in a browser; screenshots are in design-options/shots/.
- Option 1, Sealed Envelope: warm paper, Newsreader serif, an oxblood wax seal that stays whole until release. Calm, like a will.
- Option 2, Pulse Register: a railway log, Space Grotesk and IBM Plex Mono, one signal-orange accent. A 52-week strip of check-ins, the audit log on screen, big numbers. Closest to the "proof with numbers" angle.
- Option 3, Marigold at Night: warm charcoal, Instrument Serif, a marigold accent that nods to Día de los Muertos without skulls. "Are you still here?" is the hero, with the one-tap answer card next to it.
2. Auth0 FGA store. At dashboard.fga.dev, create a store and an API client, and put FGA_STORE_ID, FGA_CLIENT_ID, FGA_CLIENT_SECRET, FGA_API_TOKEN_ISSUER, FGA_API_AUDIENCE and FGA_API_URL in week4/.env. I'll then switch over and re-seed.
3. Real vault people. The Auth0 emails for you and your two trusted people, each with Guardian set up.

My pick is option 3: it shows the actual product moment (the question and the tap). Option 2 is the runner-up if you want the numbers to lead.

yeah teh 3rd design looks good but i think we can improve more on thac looks and feel of death idk, like maybe some generated assests and animations make the website look mroe alive

Going with option 3. Plan for v2: code-generated assets (no image service needed) and motion that ties to the switch itself:

  • Generated cempasúchil marigolds (SVG, made by code, petal by petal). In Día de los Muertos, marigold petals mark the path home for spirits. Here, petals mark the path between the four states.
  • Heartbeat line under the question. It beats while alive, slows when missed, goes faint while confirming, and goes flat on release.
  • Papel picado banner with cut-out patterns made by code, swaying gently.
  • Candle that flickers, lit only on release.
  • Drifting petals in the background, and a burst of petals when you tap "I'm still here".
  • All motion turns off under reduced-motion settings.

I built v2 of option 3: design-options/option-3-v2.html. Open it in a browser, because most of the change is motion and screenshots don't show it. Checked at 1440 px and 390 px: no sideways scroll, no script errors.

Generated assets (all drawn by code in the page, no image service):
- Marigold (cempasúchil): about 100 frilled petals in 7 layers, same shape on every visit. It turns slowly in the hero. It's also the logo, and a faded "pressed flower" sits in the corner of the letter.
- Papel picado banner: 14 cut-paper flags with flower, diamond and sun cut-outs, swaying slightly out of step with each other.
- Candle on the little altar: unlit while you answer. After release it lights with a flickering flame and a soft glow.
- Film grain over the dark background, so it doesn't look flat.

Motion that follows the switch:
- Hero: "Are you still here?" rises in word by word. "still" glows in a double beat, like a heartbeat.
- Heartbeat line: a live ECG trace under the question. It beats while alive, slows and weakens when missed, goes faint while confirming, and goes flat on release.
- "The path home": in Día de los Muertos, marigold petals mark the way home for the dead. Here a trail of petals lights up as far as the switch has gone. Tap any of the four states to see the whole page change.
- On release: the candle lights, the letter appears as if being written, and Riya's answer types itself out.
- Petals: a few drift down the page, and tapping "I'm still here" throws a burst of them.
- Under reduced-motion settings, all of it turns off and the page shows the final state.

Screenshots are in design-options/shots/ (option-3-v2-*).

Is this the right direction? If yes, next I'll build it into the real Next.js app, connected to the demo vault API. The demo there will play a real week in a minute: the heartbeat will slow as pings are missed, you approve as Riya and Kabir, and the candle lights for real.

Still waiting on you from before:
- Auth0 FGA: create the store and API client, and add their values to week4/.env.
- Real vault people: the Auth0 emails for you and your two trusted people.

Yes, it was on purpose, but it looks broken. The letter stays hidden until the vault is released, and only fades in when you tap "Released" in the path above. Nothing on the blank page said that. There was also a mismatch: Riya's answer showed before release even though the letter didn't.

I'll make the pre-release state clear: the letter shows a sealed placeholder with a button to jump to release, and the question side says Riya can't ask yet. That's the real behavior: before release, FGA lets her read 0 of 20 notes.

Summary:
1. Primary Request and Intent:
- First message: "Read ../PLAN.md, ../WINNERS.md, and the memory notes hf26-week4, hf26-week3-sloth-errands and hf26-week2-replydesk. Secrets are in ../.env. Start the Wednesday work in PLAN.md: check the Auth0 FGA free tier and Browserbase hours left, set up the Tiger schema (including the usage table), build the check-in and release flow with Auth0 CIBA, family questions with hybrid search and FGA, and the Ultramarine handbook job with its cost logged. Stop for the design pick (3 options) before building the UI." All done; stopped at the design pick.
- Second message: user picked design 3 but wants more "looks and feel of death", "generated assets and animations make the website look more alive". Done as option-3-v2.html.
- Third (latest) message: "in last design something was written on the white paper now its not, was that intentional?" (screenshot showed the blank letter panel while alive). I answered: on purpose, but it looks broken. I said I'd add a sealed placeholder with a button to jump to release, and make the Q&A side say Riya can't ask yet before release.

Project: Still Here, a Hacktoberfest 2026 DEV Week 4 ("Ghost in the Machine") entry. A dead man's switch with an open model inside. Deadline Sun Nov 1, 12:29 PM IST.

Global user rules (from CLAUDE.md, keep verbatim in spirit):
- "Never add yourself as a co-author. Do not append a Co-Authored-By: Claude ... trailer, a 🤖 Generated with Claude Code line, or any other attribution to a commit message — in any repository." Git email REDACTED.
- "Never publish an Artifact. Write files locally only. No exceptions unless explicitly asked to publish/share, in the same message."
- UI: load the design-guardrails skill and follow its pipeline. "Use Phosphor or Heroicons, never Lucide. No blue/purple gradients or gradient text."
- Plain English in prose; never wrap copy-paste text in blockquotes.
- Secrets live in week4/.env (outside the repo, never commit). No card on any service. Never suggest the .tech track. 7.5 GiB RAM, bun.
- Autonomy: create the public repo under Sarcastic-Soul and push, deploy to Vercel, sign up for and use free services without asking.
- Caveman ultra style is active for chat replies (terse). Code, commits and docs stay in normal prose.
- Entire: don't run setup or destructive entire commands without asking.

  1. Key Technical Concepts:

    • Next.js 16.4.3 (uses proxy.ts, not middleware), React 19.3.1, TypeScript 6.0.3, bun 1.4.3. Secrets are loaded from ../.env via process.loadEnvFile.
    • Tiger Data Postgres: pg_textsearch BM25 (<@> with to_bm25query(text,'notes_bm25_idx'); lower score is better, non-matches are dropped with score < 0), pgvector plus vectorscale DiskANN, merged with reciprocal rank fusion (RRF, k=60). postgres.js with prepare:false and onnotice silenced.
    • Embeddings: Xenova/bge-small-en-v1.5 (q8, CLS pooling, normalized, 384 dimensions) via @huggingface/transformers in Node (onnxruntime-node trusted). Queries get the prefix "Represent this sentence for searching relevant passages: ".
    • Auth0 CIBA (/bc-authorize and /oauth/token with the CIBA grant). binding_message is at most 64 characters from a limited character set. The Week 3 app is reused; it is CIBA-enabled (a fake sub returned unknown_user_id).
    • Auth0 FGA / OpenFGA (@openfga/sdk 0.9.7). Model: can_read = owner or (reader and released from vault). Release writes vault:<id>#released@user:*. Uses batchCheck. Writes are chunked at 40 tuples. Local OpenFGA runs in docker as stillhere-openfga on port 8089, in memory only.
    • Auth0 FGA free trial: no time limit, 10 stores, 50k tuples, 100 MAU, 40 tuples per write, Check 20 rps, ListObjects 10/min. No source found on whether it needs a card.
    • Browserbase: 17 of 60 free minutes used in October.
    • Models: Groq gpt-oss-20b/120b (the 120b uses reasoning_effort: "low"), also qwen/qwen3.8-27b. Ultramarine ultramarine-1-flash at $0.15 in / $0.03 cached / $0.50 out per million tokens; it is a reasoning model.
    • ntfy.sh push with an http POST action for one-tap check-in. HMAC-signed check-in tokens.
    • Switch states: alive → missed (after miss_limit unanswered pings, a last-chance ping) → confirming (after grace_seconds, CIBA to each trusted person) → released (all approve). One deny or an owner check-in goes back to alive. Expired pushes are re-sent after 6h (0 for demo).
    • Design v2: generated SVG marigolds, papel picado, ECG heartbeat that follows the state, a petal trail called "The path home", a candle that lights on release, a petal canvas, film grain, reduced-motion support.
  2. Files and Code Sections (repo [REDACTED]/Code/hacktoberfest/week4/still-here, commit 502d83d pushed to origin main):

    • package.json: scripts dev/build/start/typecheck, db:schema, fga:setup, seed, ask, handbook, release:demo. Dependencies: next 16.4.3, react 19.3.1, @auth0/nextjs-auth0 ^4.33.0, @openfga/sdk, postgres, @huggingface/transformers, docx, zod, server-only. .gitignore adds out/ and *.tsbuildinfo.
    • next.config.ts: loads ../.env, devIndicators:false, serverExternalPackages: ["@huggingface/transformers","onnxruntime-node"].
    • db/schema.sql: tables vaults, people (role owner|trusted, auth0_sub), switch (state, every_seconds, miss_limit, grace_seconds, last_answer_at, last_ping_at, missed_count, last_chance_at, round, released_at), checkins, approvals (unique vault+person+round; status pending/approved/denied/expired/cancelled), letters, notes (shared_with uuid[], generated search_text, embedding vector(384), BM25 and DiskANN indexes), documents, handbooks (sections jsonb, dropped, docx bytea, usage_id), usage (job, provider, model, tokens, reasoning_tokens, cost_usd numeric, latency_ms, ok), questions, closures (for Browserbase later), audit_log with an append-only trigger. The trigger allows delete only when still_here.vault_reset='on'.
    • lib/env.ts (need/maybe), lib/db.ts (global postgres pool), lib/audit.ts (audit(vaultId, actor, action, detail, db=sql); the tx is passed inside transactions).
    • lib/llm.ts: MODELS table with prices; JOB_MODEL (draft/answer/handbook/eval default gpt-oss-120b, env overrides ANSWER_MODEL/HANDBOOK_MODEL). chat() sends to an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, retries on 429/5xx, logs a usage row, returns text, usageId, tokens, costUsd, latencyMs. Also parseJson.
    • lib/fga.ts: MODEL JSON, fga() client (client credentials if FGA_CLIENT_ID is set), setVaultOwner, shareNote, shareLetter, markReleased, unmarkReleased, canRead, filterReadable (batchCheck). fga/model.fga holds the DSL. scripts/fga-setup.ts creates the store and model and writes FGA_STORE_ID / FGA_MODEL_ID into ../.env.
    • lib/embed.ts, lib/search.ts (searchNotes(vaultId, query, limit=20) hybrid RRF).
    • lib/ask.ts: search → filterReadable → top 6 allowed notes labeled n1..n6 → JSON {answer,cited,no_note} → code validates citations. Outcomes are answered/no_note/refused; logs to questions and audit. The no-note message is "${owner} didn't leave a note about that."
    • lib/ciba.ts (ported from Week 3), lib/ntfy.ts (push with http POST actions, appUrl), lib/token.ts (HMAC check-in token).
    • lib/vault.ts: types plus getVault, getVaultById, getPeople, getPerson, getSwitch, and personForSession (links the Auth0 sub by verified email only).
    • lib/switch.ts: tick, checkIn, demoDecide, demoReset, sendPing (the demo vault doesn't push), askPerson (demo vault, or no sub, means a pending approval with no push), release (marks FGA released), cancelToAlive. The binding message is "${owner} silent ${silence}. Approve only if he has died".
    • lib/vault-admin.ts (addNote with embedding plus FGA, updateNote, addLetter, deleteVault), db/demo-data.ts (demo owner Anish; Riya the sister and Kabir the friend are placeholders; 24 notes, the "Diary" note is shared with nobody; 2 letters; 8 documents; parents are not named), scripts/seed.ts (demo vault with every 6 s, miss limit 3, grace 6 s).
    • lib/handbook.ts: runHandbook (documents labeled d1..; JSON sections; code drops items with an unknown audience or bad sources; renders a docx; stores a handbooks row and an audit entry). scripts/handbook.ts <slug> <model> saves out/handbook-*.docx.
    • scripts/ask.ts, scripts/release-demo.ts, scripts/db-schema.ts.
    • Auth and routes: lib/auth0.ts, proxy.ts (protects /me, /api/me, /api/ask, /api/letters, /api/handbook), lib/session.ts (currentPeople), lib/http.ts, lib/status.ts (vaultStatus; approvals only shown when confirming or released), lib/letters.ts (FGA filtered), lib/demo.ts (demoVault, demoPerson, rate limit of 150 questions per hour).
    • Routes: app/api/checkin (token or owner session), app/api/cron/tick (Bearer CRON_SECRET), app/api/me, app/api/ask, app/api/letters, app/api/handbook (docx download), app/api/demo/{status (ticks), decide, reset, checkin, ask, letters}. app/layout.tsx and app/page.tsx are placeholders.
    • week4/.env additions: AUTH0_CLIENT_ID/SECRET (copied from week3), AUTH0_SECRET, APP_BASE_URL=http://localhost:3000, CHECKIN_SECRET, NTFY_TOPIC=still-here-<hex>, FGA_API_URL=http://localhost:8089, FGA_STORE_ID=01M5YSJGQERMPPNR68G442MG8K, FGA_MODEL_ID=01M5YSJGQS7J1K9A3VWGW97MTZ, empty FGA_CLIENT_ID/SECRET/ISSUER/AUDIENCE.
    • design-options/option-1.html, option-2.html, option-3.html, option-3-v2.html, plus shots/. Not committed yet.
    • Updated week4/PLAN.md (FGA and Browserbase findings, plus a "Progress" section) and the memory file hf26-week4.md (state note appended).

Current letter and Q&A markup in option-3-v2.html (lines 214–235):

</div>
</section>

Related script facts: line 397 sets the candle-note text; line 398 document.getElementById("letter").classList.toggle("open", on);; lines 412–413 pre-fill the answer text and reset typed=false. The CSS .letter .ink { clip-path: inset(0 100% 0 0) } hides the letter text until .letter.open. setMode(i) drives the steps, trail, pulse and lightCandle(i===3); lightCandle calls typeAnswer when on.

  1. Errors and fixes:

    • zsh echo ===== failed ("===== not found") because of zsh = expansion. Fixed by using other separators.
    • python3 -I couldn't import playwright (user site-packages are excluded). Ran without -I for my own script.
    • typescript ^7 was installed by default; pinned to 6.0.3.
    • Blocked postinstall for onnxruntime-node; trusted it, and the binaries are present.
    • The first v2 screenshot showed all papel picado flags stacked top-left, because the CSS sway animation's transform overrode the SVG translate. Fixed with an outer <g transform=translate> and an inner <g class="flag">.
    • Phone scrollWidth was 499. Fixed with html, body { overflow-x: clip; } and grain inset at -10%.
    • pkill -f "next dev" returned exit 144 (it matched its own shell). The dev server did stop.
    • User feedback: the blank letter panel in v2 looked like a bug (the text was hidden while not released). The fix is in progress.
  2. Problem Solving:

    • Verified end to end over HTTP on the demo vault:
      • Pings, then missed, then confirming.
      • Before release: letters are empty and ask returns "Nothing has been released yet." (via CLI, FGA allowed 0 of 20).
      • A deny goes back to alive. An owner check-in during confirming cancels the approvals.
      • Both approve, then released. Each person sees only their own letter.
      • Kabir asking about Riya's SIP gets no_note. A check-in after release is refused.
    • Handbook results:

    | Model | Items kept | Tokens in / out | Cost | Time |
    |---|---|---|---|---|
    | Ultramarine | 19 (0 dropped) | 983 / 5,859 (4,501 reasoning) | $0.003077 | 14.1 s |
    | gpt-oss-120b | 9 | 1,045 / 566 | $0.000496 | 1.6 s |

  • Answer calls: about 500–650 input tokens, about $0.0001–0.00017 each.
  1. All user messages:

    • "Read ../PLAN.md, ../WINNERS.md, and the memory notes hf26-week4, hf26-week3-sloth-errands and hf26-week2-replydesk. Stop for the design pick (3 options) before building the UI."
    • "yeah teh 3rd design looks good but i think we can improve more on thac looks and feel of death idk, like maybe some generated assests and animations make the website look mroe alive"
    • (Usage-limit reset system note: continue the task.)
    • "in last design somehting was written on the white paper now its not, was that intentional?" (with a screenshot of the blank letter panel next to the shown Riya answer)
  2. Pending Tasks:

    • Fix the pre-release state in option-3-v2.html:
      • Sealed placeholder on the letter, with a button to show the release (setMode(3)).
      • Q&A locked before release ("Riya can't ask yet", FGA lets her read 0 of 20 notes until release).
      • Re-screenshot and show the user.
    • After the user confirms the direction: build the real Next.js UI from option 3 v2, wired to the demo API. Load taste-skill first per design-guardrails, then do the impeccable check.
    • Waiting on the user: Auth0 FGA store and client credentials (then bun run fga:setup and re-seed); the real vault people's Auth0 emails with Guardian enrolled.
    • Later (Thursday onward): check-in answer page /still-here/[token], check-in line to Backboard memory, Browserbase closures, deploy to Vercel (CRON_SECRET), eval and leak test (about 40 questions), commit design-options when the time is right.
  3. Current Work:
I was answering the user's question about the blank letter. My reply: "Yes, it was on purpose, but it looks broken. The letter stays hidden until the vault is released, and only fades in when you tap 'Released' in the path above. Nothing on the blank page said that. There was also a mismatch: Riya's answer showed before release even though the letter didn't. I'll make the pre-release state clear: the letter shows a sealed placeholder with a button to jump to release, and the question side says Riya can't ask yet. That's the real behavior: before release, FGA lets her read 0 of 20 notes."
I then grep'd and read lines 214–235 of design-options/option-3-v2.html to edit the markup. No edit has been made yet.

  4. Optional Next Step:
    Edit design-options/option-3-v2.html:

    • Add a .sealed overlay inside .letter, shown when not .open: lock or marigold seal, the text "Sealed until Riya and Kabir both say yes", and a button "Show what happens after" that calls setMode(3). Add faint ruled placeholder lines.
    • Wrap the Q&A answers so they show only when released (e.g. toggle a released class on .after inside lightCandle). Before release, show "Riya can't ask yet. Until release, FGA lets her read 0 of 20 notes."
    • Remove the pre-fill at lines 412–413 so the answer appears only on release.
    • Re-run the screenshot script (scratchpad/shot2.py) for both states at 1440 and 390, check them, and report to the user briefly.

If you need specific details from before compaction (like exact code snippets, error messages, or content you generated), read the full transcript at: [REDACTED]/.claude-work/projects/-home-anish-kumar-Code-hacktoberfest-week4-still-here/86b72450-2106-4778-8997-b9d17fb4ceb2.jsonl
Continue the conversation from where it left off without asking the user any further questions. Resume directly — do not acknowledge the summary, do not recap what was happening, do not preface with "I'll continue" or similar. Pick up the last task as if the break never happened.

The messages after this summary are the most recent messages from before compaction, kept verbatim. The summary was written without seeing them, so something it says has not happened yet may already have happened in them.

tasteskill v2

A page built by a model usually looks like the average of every page the model has seen: a centred
headline over three lines, a little label above it, a row of icon cards, a soft gradient, a few thin
rules and a monospace caption. Nothing in it is wrong and nothing in it was decided.

This skill replaces those defaults with decisions, in four ways:

  1. A script deals the directions, you choose among them. Asked to invent a look, a model picks the category default every time. scripts/draw.mjs deals three of twenty researched directions; you choose the one that carries the subject's idea, and the script then deals its type system, palette, hero and section compositions from a library distilled from 247 real sites.
  2. The idea comes from the subject. In the study, what separated the best sites from the forgettable ones was a concept taken from the thing itself, not the styling.
  3. A house style with no ornaments, measured in a real browser by scripts/inspect.mjs, so the rules are checked rather than hoped for.
  4. You look at what you made. Screenshots at three widths, a juror's rubric, fix, look again.

One warning learned in testing. Taking the ornaments away is only half the job; a page that has lost its
labels, rules and cards and gained nothing in their place reads as thin, and blind jurors rightly prefer
a richer page with tells over an empty page without them. The other half is substance: type set
larger, whole fields of colour, real pictures of this subject's world (found or drawn), and every
section carrying its full content. The skill is built to give you that; do not trade it for restraint.

In the commands below <skill> is this skill's folder. Run them from the project's root, so the
working files land in .taste-skill/ there. The scripts need Node 22+ and an installed Chrome, Edge
or Chromium, and install nothing. assets.mjs also needs network access; it uses no API keys.

The run

Do these in order. Steps 1–5 take a few minutes and decide whether the page is any good.

1. Read the brief and the project

Find out what is real: the subject, the audience, the one thing the page must get someone to do, the
stack, any existing brand (colours, fonts, logo), and above all what imagery truly exists: the
project's own photographs or product shots, a real interface that can be shown, an image generation
tool you can call, or nothing. Do not plan around pictures you do not have. Nothing of its own is
rarely nothing at all: the subject's city, street, materials and history are in open archives and
museums, free to use with a credit (step 6, scripts/assets.mjs).

If the request is vague, decide and state your reading in one line instead of asking. Ask only when a
missing fact blocks the work (for example, no product name).

Then inventory the subject in your notes: eight to twelve things that belong to this client and to
no competitor. Look for its name and what the name means; its address, door number, street and
neighbourhood, and what that place looks like (its tiles, signs, paint colours, typefaces on its shop
fronts, its light, its weather); the numbers in the brief (seats, rooms, minutes to the sea, the
price, the year); the constraint it lives with (only one batch a month, closed in winter, by
appointment); its materials and colours; its rituals and hours (the oven lit at five, the ferry at
seven); the printed things of its world (a timetable, a label, a ticket, a sign). This list is where
the idea comes from in step 4. In blind tests, the page that won each brief was built from an item on
such a list (the client's name and what it means, the street it stands in, the one constraint that
makes it what it is), and the pages that lost had a good composition with a category idea. The list
is also your picture search: each place, material and printed thing on it is a query for step 6.

2. Write the argument

Before any design, list the page as claims with their proof, one line per section, the way
references/copy.md §1 shows. The claims decide which sections exist and in what order. Delete any
section that has no claim. This is how you avoid the stock sequence of hero, logos, three features,
testimonial, pricing, call to action.

3. Draw the direction

node <skill>/scripts/draw.mjs --sector <sector> --brief "<one line about the subject>" \
--sections <roles in the order of your argument> [--tone <tone>] [--have <assets>] [--keep palette, type] \
  --options 3

This deals three directions and prints a short summary of each. Hold each one against your inventory:
which way of composing can carry something only this client has? Choose that one, not the most
familiar, and write one line in your notes on why. In testing, a single random direction that did not
suit the subject was the commonest cause of a weak page. Then deal the full sheet:

node <skill>/scripts/draw.mjs <the same arguments, without --options> --direction <chosen id>
  • --sector: node <skill>/scripts/draw.mjs --list sectors. Pick the closest.
  • --sections: roles from --list roles (features, showcase, how-it-works, testimonial, proof, stats, pricing, faq, cta, footer, intro, about, work, gallery, list, contact). The hero is implied.
  • --tone (optional): quiet, bold, warm, technical, playful, luxury, editorial. Only pass it when the brief clearly asks for one.
  • --have: assets that really exist, comma-separated: photography (the project's own photographs of the place, people or work), product-photo (photographs of the specific product, or an image tool that can make them), product-ui (real screenshots), illustration, video. Leave it out if you have none: the draw then avoids compositions that depend on them and the sheet says how to fill picture slots honestly (software shows its own interface built in HTML; a product with no photographs is drawn and set among real pictures of its world, never a fake product shot). Pictures you will find in the open collections are not the project's own; leave them out of --have.
  • --keep palette, type: when the brand already fixes colours or typefaces. The draw then deals only the composition, and you map the brand's values onto the roles.

The command prints a direction sheet. It is the art direction for this build:

  • Adopt it. Do not blend it with the layout you would have made anyway. If it feels unfamiliar, good: the familiar layout is the one this skill exists to prevent.
  • Redraw one slot (--redraw hero | type | palette | photos | section:<role> | direction) only for a reason you can state: it contradicts a stated brand constraint, or needs an asset that does not exist. Never redraw to get something more comfortable. Record every redraw in your report.
  • When a dealt section cannot hold the real content (it compares three plans and there is one price; it wants five quotations and there are none), do not bend the content to fit. List the others with --alternatives <role>, pick the one whose assumptions match the content, and take it with --redraw section:<role>=<id>.
  • Check the palette against the subject. A dealt palette is a set of proportions (one ground, one ink, one accent, fields) as much as a set of colours. If its colours fight the subject's own material (candy pastels for a peat whisky, neon for a mountain hut), redraw the palette once; if the subject has unmistakable colours of its own (its material, the paint of its street, the landscape outside its windows), keep the dealt proportions and take the colours from the subject instead, and say so in the report.
  • Reprint it any time with node <skill>/scripts/draw.mjs --show. In a long session, re-read it before each section you build.

4. Find the idea

The direction is a way of composing. The idea is what makes the page belong to this subject and no
other. Write this sentence in your notes and do not start building until both blanks are filled from
the subject itself:

On this page, [something that belongs to the subject] becomes [the device the direction calls for].

Places to look for the first blank:

  • Its output. What does the thing produce? Put the real output on the page as material. (A camera that prints poems delivered its copy as paper slips.)
  • Its object or shape. What does it physically look like, in cross-section, in silhouette? Enlarge it, crop it, make it the frame or the one motif.
  • Its name. Can the letters hold a photograph, stack into a wall, split to two corners?
  • Its place. Is there one view that makes someone want to be there?
  • Its ritual. Is there a sequence the page can perform as it scrolls?
  • Its artefact. What printed thing already exists in its world: ticket, menu, label, receipt, invitation, folder, manual?
  • Its opposite. Which other category owns the feeling this one lacks?

Fill the first blank from your inventory (step 1), not from the category. The competitor test: put
the nearest real competitor in the sentence (the bakery two streets away, another oak furniture maker,
another hut on the same mountain). If the sentence still works, the idea belongs to the category: a
loaf of bread is every bakery; the seven doors of the street this one is named after are only this one.
"Clean and modern" is not an idea. The sites the study's panel scored lowest were the ones whose idea
was recorded as "none beyond the standard formula".

One live thing. Give the page one thing the visitor can do, or that is different for each visit,
made from the idea: pick a wood and see the chair in it; type your name and see it cut in the
foundry's letters; set the loan and read the real monthly figure; see whether the hut's stove is lit
right now and how long until the last ferry; choose a size and see it against the room. In blind tests every winning page had one and the jurors named it first. Rules: it uses the subject's real content, it works on a phone with a thumb, it has a plain
fallback without script, it never blocks reading, and it is one thing, not a playground. It is
built in step 6 as part of the page, not added as motion in step 9.

5. Write the words

Write the whole page as a copy deck (plain text) before markup, following references/copy.md:

  • Every headline fits in two lines or fewer at every width. Do the arithmetic in copy.md §2 before committing to a sentence: about 32 characters is safe everywhere at a confident size. The studied gallery heroes have a median of 5 words and 32 characters.
  • One supporting sentence. One primary action, named for what it does, as a real button on the first screen.
  • The first screen answers the visitor's first question in large type. For an event: what it is, when and where (the dates belong in the headline or at the second size, never only in small text). For a product: what it is and what it costs or does. For a person: who and what they do. Every section the visitor came for (the line-up, the menu, the rooms, the price) has its own heading and its own place in the navigation.
  • Write the full content. Every section the brief asks for delivers its information completely: the whole menu with prices, each room with its own details, every speaker and talk, the price with what it includes, an answer for each real question. Thin sections are the commonest reason a clean page loses to a busier one.
  • Sample details are expected where the brief leaves gaps (dish names, room names and rates, project titles) so the design is seen at full density; list them in the report for the client to confirm. Proof is never invented: no customers, quotes, reviews, press, logos or business statistics.

6. Build it, still

Build the page with motion switched off in your head; a page that needs animation to look finished is
not finished. Order of work:

  1. Tokens. Colour and type roles from the sheet as CSS custom properties. Everything downstream references tokens only. <skill>/assets/base.css is a neutral foundation you may start from (reset, token names, fluid type steps, grid, focus and selection styles, the motion helpers); it has no look of its own.
  2. The hero, exactly as the blueprint describes it, at desktop and at phone width. Get the big thing big and the small things small before anything else exists.
  3. Each section from its blueprint, with this project's content. Keep the geometry, change the subject. Neighbouring sections must not share a layout. Carry the idea into every section, pricing, FAQ and footer included: the commonest failure in the study, even among good sites, is a distinctive first screen followed by stock blocks.
  4. Imagery, in this order of preference:
    1. the project's own;
    2. generated, if you have an image tool;
    3. real pictures of the subject's world from the open collections, whenever an honest one exists. Search them with node <skill>/scripts/assets.mjs "<query>" (Openverse, Wikimedia Commons, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Met; only licences that allow commercial use, by default). Search the inventory, not the category: its street in old postcards, an old map of the neighbourhood, its material up close, its trade in engravings, a museum object of its kind, a botanical plate, a star chart. Use them large and with intent: one archival photograph as the hero, an engraving enlarged into the page's motif, the real map of the street as the contact section. Look at each before choosing; --get <ref> downloads it into assets/ and records its source and licence, and --credits prints the credit line for the footer. A found picture shows the world around the client and is never presented as the client's own product, room, dish, person or team;
    4. drawn in code from the subject itself, for what no honest picture exists of (its objects, its tiles, its windows, its product's interface, made as one consistent flat graphic language in the palette's real colours);
    5. the photographs dealt on the sheet, only where an honestly generic picture fits (the sea for a sea house), never as a stand-in for the subject;
    6. type and colour alone.

The floor, which the inspector checks: at least four real pictures on the page, usually six to
twelve (photographs, archival images, maps, engravings, footage, raster artwork; for software, its
cropped interface fragments count too). SVG drawings do not count toward the floor: draw what no
picture exists of, and still carry real pictures. Add one moving picture wherever an honest clip
exists: search it with assets.mjs --video "<query>" and use it as a muted loop with a poster
frame. Models skip pictures and footage because finding them is work; the page fails without them.

references/imagery.md covers searching, licences and credits, video, drawing, crops and treatments.
5. The live thing from step 4, built into the section where it proves the claim (often the hero
or the booking), with real content, a thumb-sized phone version and a plain fallback.
6. Fullness. Look at each desktop screen as a poster: one dominant thing and the content it
carries. A screen that is mostly empty ground is an underbuilt section, not a rest; one deliberate
rest per page is the limit, and the inspector fails a page with two or more near-empty screens.
Running text is in the full ink at 16px or more; grey is for secondary notes.
7. States and semantics. Real links and buttons, visible focus, alt text, a phone layout that is
its own composition.

Read references/type.md, references/colour.md and references/layout.md when you need the detail
behind a decision; the laws below are the short form.

7. Gate

node <skill>/scripts/lint.mjs <source files or folder>
node <skill>/scripts/inspect.mjs <url or path/to/index.html>

lint.mjs scans source for banned patterns and stock phrases. inspect.mjs opens the page in a real
browser at 1440, 768 and 390 pixels, measures it (headline line counts, type sizes, fonts actually
loaded, colours, rules, shadows, gradients, contrast, overflow) and saves screenshots to
.taste-skill/inspect/. Fix every FAIL. Treat each WARN as wrong unless you can defend it to a
designer in one sentence. Re-run until there are no FAILs. Do not argue with the meter and do not
hide things from it. The inspector serves local files over a throwaway local server; if the page must
also open straight from the file system, open index.html that way once before you finish.

8. Look

Passing the gate means nothing banned was measured. It does not mean the page is good. Open the
screenshots the inspector lists (every viewport, with your image viewer or Read tool) and critique them
with references/critique.md: the fourteen passes, the Awwwards-weighted score, the caps. Write the critique
down in its format, fix the top three problems, run the inspector again, look again. Three rounds at
most.

Judge only the pictures. If a problem is visible in a screenshot, it is real, whatever the code says.

9. Move

Now build the motion layer. It is required, and it is more than one fade: the inspector counts the
elements that really move while the page loads and is scrolled, and fails a page under eight (it warns
under sixteen). The layer has four parts:

  1. The signature move named on the sheet: one, done well.
  2. An entrance for the parts of every section: the heading, then the text, then the picture, staggered by 60–90ms, rising 16–32px with opacity, triggered once as the section enters. Not one fade for the whole block, and never content that stays hidden if the script fails.
  3. Feedback on every control: press, hover and focus on buttons, links, cards and the live thing.
  4. One moving picture: a found clip as a muted loop, a slow scale or drift on a photograph, or a scroll-linked move on the hero picture.

Transform and opacity only; every move has a prefers-reduced-motion fallback that keeps the content
and drops the travel. A move that changes the colour or the layout of whole screens (colour by
chapter, a pinned story) is part of the composition, so build it in step 6 and let every look round see
it. references/motion.md has the tokens and tested recipes. Then run the inspector once more and check
every screenshot for content that failed to appear.

10. Report

Tell the user, briefly: the direction dealt (name and seed) and any redraws with reasons; the idea
sentence and the live thing; the final scores from your last critique round and what still falls short;
every found picture and clip with its title, creator, licence and source page (assets.mjs --credits prints
the list) and where its credit sits on the page; which bundled photographs and which drawings stand in
for photography (so they can be replaced); and any sample content that must be swapped before launch.
Do not claim a check you did not run.

House rules

These hold on every build, whatever the direction. inspect.mjs measures them.

Rule Instead
Headlines: two lines or fewer, at every width. Every h1–h6, and the main line of the first screen whatever its tag. Cut words. Then widen the measure. Size last.
Statements are paragraphs. An intro sentence or a quotation set large is marked up as <p> or <blockquote>, stays at statement size (36px or less on desktop, 24px on a phone) and runs to about 25 words, three lines. Larger than that it is a headline and the two-line rule applies. In blind tests jurors read a 42px sentence over four lines as a four-line headline.
No eyebrows. No small label above a heading, no pill badge above the headline, no "New ·" chip. Put the information in the heading or the first sentence, or drop it.
No monospace outside real code blocks. The text face. Tabular figures where numbers align.
No index numbering. No 01 / 02 / 03, no (001), no "Step 2". Order shown by position, size, or the words. A real <ol> if order matters.
No thin rules. No hairline dividers, no 1px outlined boxes, no grid lines, crosshairs or crop marks. Space. A step in background tone. A change of scale. A filled shape.
No gradients. Not as backgrounds, not on buttons, not in text. Flat colour, or a real photograph. A neutral scrim under text on a photo is the one exception.
No shadows on things at rest. No glows. A tone step between surfaces. Shadows only on what truly floats: a menu, a dialog.
No assistant palette. No yellow-cream ground with terracotta or rust; no violet or indigo. The dealt palette.
No tiny uppercase letter-spaced labels. Sentence case at a readable size.
No icon-topped feature cards, no rows of identical cards. The dealt section blueprint.
No glass. No backdrop blur panels, no floating pill navigation. A plain bar: wordmark, a few links, one action.
No emoji, no gradient blobs, no decorative shapes, no fake dashboards of grey bars. A real picture, a real interface fragment, or nothing.
No styled accent word in a headline (italic, serif, coloured, underlined). One face, one colour. The words carry the emphasis.
Two typefaces at most, usually one. The dealt type system.

Three places keep their own conventions and are left alone by the inspector: real code in
<pre>/<code> (monospace is correct there), real tables and form fields (they may have lines), and
a real interface fragment whose root carries the attribute data-ui (the product's own borders and
menus; see references/imagery.md §7).

Why these, honestly. Some are what the study measured: among the 247 sites, those the panel scored
7.5 or higher used icon feature cards 1% of the time against 28% for sites under 6.5, pill badges 14%
against 34%, gradients 22% against 52%, shadows 24% against 48%, tiny tracked caps 16% against 57%.
Others are the owner's taste and go against current gallery fashion: monospace labels, index numbers
and hairline grids are actually more common on award sites than on weak ones, which is exactly why
generators imitate them and why they now read as costume. They are banned here without exception.
references/tells.md keeps the dated registry.

Removing ornament leaves space. Never fill it with another ornament. Fill it with scale (make the main
thing larger), with the full content, with a picture made for this subject, or with a field of flat
colour. Leave it empty on purpose once per page at most.

Laws of the craft

Short form. Numbers are from the study unless marked as house style.

Type
- Two or three sizes do the visible work: one very large, one small, nothing in between. Median
headline-to-body ratio on the studied sites is 4.3; the best go far beyond (largest type: median
8.4vw on the top sites against 5.0vw on the weak ones).
- Display type: tracking -0.02 to -0.05em, leading 0.85–1.05. Text: 16–20px, leading 1.45–1.6,
45–75 characters per line.
- Five sizes on a page is the ceiling. One family is normal (a third of the studied sites); two is the
limit.
- Left-aligned by default. Centre at most one moment.

Space
- One grid, one pair of tight margins (16–32px), used everywhere; large things run to the edges. Text
blocks share two or three left edges on the whole page.
- The gap between sections is clearly larger than any gap inside one: 120–220px on desktop.
- Each section has a different composition from its neighbours; none is a card grid.

Colour
- One ground, one ink, one accent. The accent appears on the action and perhaps one other thing.
- Running text in the full ink. A page set in soft grey reads unfinished.
- Surfaces are separated by a small step in tone, never by a line or a shadow.
- A section may change the whole field colour. Nothing fades into anything.

Imagery
- One dominant image beats six small ones. On the top-scored sites the hero media covers at least half
the first screen 68% of the time.
- Same crop ratios, same treatment, square corners unless the direction says otherwise (73% of the
studied sites leave media square).
- No image is better than a placeholder, an icon, or an abstract shape. A picture drawn for this
subject, in its colours and with care, is better than either. A real picture of its world, found
and credited, is better still.
- Every found picture is downloaded into the project, credited on the page and listed in the report.
None is presented as the client's own.
- Nothing ever lies on top of a headline or a statement (the inspector fails it).

Components
- Buttons: flat, one fill colour, either square-cornered or fully round, decided once (top sites: 52%
square, 23% pill; the 9–16px "soft" radius is the weak-site default). Most strong heroes have no
button at all, or one.
- Navigation: wordmark, three to five plain links, one action. No bar chrome.
- The footer is a designed close, not a sitemap: on most strong sites the name returns at full width.

Special cases

An existing brand or design system. Pass --keep palette, type, map the brand's colours and faces
onto the roles, and take only composition from the draw. The house rules still apply; if the brand
itself requires a banned device (its logo sits in a gradient, its accent is violet), keep the brand
asset, say so in the report, and pass --allow <rule> to the inspector for that rule only.

Redesign or review of an existing page. Run lint.mjs and inspect.mjs on it first and report
what they find, then critique the screenshots with references/critique.md. For a redesign, draw a
direction and proceed from step 2, keeping the page's real content and working behaviour.

A component or a single section, not a page. Skip the draw unless there is no direction to follow.
Match the surrounding design, apply the house rules and the laws, and still inspect the result.

No checkout, no form backend. The primary button goes to the real destination when the brief names
one. Otherwise it opens an email with a written subject and body (mailto: with the visitor's choices
filled in), or, for a shop, it points at #checkout and the report says it must be wired before
launch. Never fake a payment form.

No Chrome or Node 22. Run lint.mjs (Node 18+), take screenshots with whatever browser tool you
have, and critique those. Say in the report that the inspector could not run.

No network. If assets.mjs reaches no source, draw the pictures and say in the report that the
open collections could not be searched.

This session is being continued from a previous conversation that ran out of context. The summary below covers the earlier portion of the conversation.

<system-reminder>
<tools-used-before-summary>Bash, Edit, Read, Skill, TaskStop, ToolSearch, WebFetch, WebSearch, Write</tools-used-before-summary>
</system-reminder>
Summary:
1. Primary Request and Intent:
- First message (earlier session): "Read ../PLAN.md, ../WINNERS.md, and the memory notes hf26-week4, hf26-week3-sloth-errands and hf26-week2-replydesk. Stop for the design pick (3 options) before building the UI." This is all done.
- User picked design option 3 and asked for more "looks and feel of death". That became design-options/option-3-v2.html.
- User asked why the letter paper was blank. Fixed in v2 with a sealed placeholder ("Show it released" button) and a locked Q&A side.
- Latest main request: "btw yeah teh design looks good, lets go with it, build the whole project please". I'm building the real Next.js app from option 3 v2.
- Latest mid-turn question: "both database and server are deplyed in same region or not?" Answered: not yet. The server runs locally in India; the Tiger DB is in AWS us-east-1. Vercel's default region iad1 matches, and it is now pinned in vercel.json.
- Project: Still Here, a Hacktoberfest 2026 DEV Week 4 ("Ghost in the Machine") entry. A dead man's switch with an open model inside. Deadline Sun Nov 1, 12:29 PM IST.

Global user rules (keep):
- Commits: "Never add yourself as a co-author. Do not append a Co-Authored-By: Claude ... trailer, a 🤖 Generated with Claude Code line, or any other attribution to a commit message — in any repository. Commits are authored by the user alone." Use git email REDACTED. The user's CLAUDE.md overrides the system reminder that asks for Co-Authored-By lines.
- Artifacts: "Never publish an Artifact. Write files locally only. No exceptions unless explicitly asked to publish/share, in the same message."
- UI: load the design-guardrails skill and follow its pipeline. "Use Phosphor or Heroicons, never Lucide. No blue/purple gradients or gradient text."
- Plain English in prose. Never wrap copy-paste text in blockquotes.
- Secrets live in week4/.env (outside the repo). Never commit them. No card on any service. Never suggest the .tech track.
- Machine: 7.5 GiB RAM, use bun.
- Autonomy: create the public repo under Sarcastic-Soul and push, deploy to Vercel, and sign up for free services without asking.
- Caveman ultra style for chat replies (terse). Code, commits and docs stay in normal prose.
- Entire: don't run setup or destructive entire commands without asking.
- The auto-mode classifier denied fetching an Auth0 Management API token (Credential Materialization). Don't try to work around it. Ask the user if it's needed.

  1. Key Technical Concepts:

    • Stack:
      • Next.js 16.4.3 (uses proxy.ts, not middleware; route params are a Promise; server actions with "use server"; revalidatePath). React 19.3.1, TS 6.0.3, bun.
      • next/font/google: Instrument_Serif (400, normal + italic, --font-serif) and Geist (--font-sans).
      • @phosphor-icons/react 2.1.10 (/dist/ssr for server components).
    • Tiger Postgres:
      • Located in AWS us-east-1. Round trip from local is ~300 ms; a transaction is ~940 ms.
      • postgres.js pool max: 5, prepare:false.
      • Hybrid BM25 + pgvector/DiskANN search with RRF.
    • Auth0:
      • CIBA with Guardian push for trusted-person approval.
      • Auth0 FGA / OpenFGA running locally in docker as stillhere-openfga on port 8089, in-memory. Writes ignore duplicates and deletes ignore missing tuples.
      • Release writes vault:<id>#released@user:*.
    • Switch states: alive → missed → confirming → released.
      • Demo vault: every 6 s, miss_limit 3, grace 6 s. Demo approvals go through demoDecide.
    • Models:
      • Groq gpt-oss-120b for answers.
      • ultramarine-1-flash for the handbook ($0.0031 per run).
      • Usage table logs every call.
    • ntfy push: now one topic per vault (vaults.ntfy_topic), falling back to the NTFY_TOPIC env.
    • taste-skill house rules applied loosely (direction already chosen by the user): no index numbering, no mono. The italic "still" and the thin borders stay because the user approved that design.
  2. Files and Code Sections (repo [REDACTED]/Code/hacktoberfest/week4/still-here; last commit 502d83d; everything below is uncommitted):

    • design-options/option-3-v2.html: sealed letter placeholder and locked Q&A added. Screenshots are in design-options/shots/.
    • components/art.tsx: deterministic seeded generated art, so server and client draw the same thing.
      • Marigold({seed,r,layers,colors,className}), PRESSED colors.
      • Picado(): masks with ids picado-${i}; an outer translate group with an inner .flag sway group.
      • trailPoints(): 70 ellipses.
    • components/motion.tsx ("use client"):
      • Pulse({state}): rAF heartbeat; the BEAT table is per state.
      • burst(el): dispatches a petal-burst CustomEvent.
      • Petals(): canvas #petals.
      • Candle({lit}): flicker effect.
      • Reveal(): adds .pending and an IntersectionObserver removes it, so content stays visible without script.
    • components/chrome.tsx:
      • SOURCE = "https://github.com/Sarcastic-Soul/still-here".
      • Top({short, action}): picado plus nav (How it decides, Afterwards, Source, and a "Your vault" /me act link).
      • End(): footer with a big "Still Here" wordmark.
    • app/layout.tsx: fonts, globals.css, grain div.
    • app/globals.css: full port of the v2 styles plus new styles:
      • Live panel: .live, .clock, .misses, .phones/.phone.ringing, .decide, .log.
      • Afterwards: .after-head, .who tabs, .ofrenda grid (150px / 1fr / 1fr), .letter .ink write animation, .sealed.
      • Ask: .ask-row, .chips.
      • Other sections: .numbers, .make, .btn(.primary), footer.end.
      • Signed-in pages: .page, .panel, .state-row, .facts, .list, .form, .checks, .note-msg, .err, .link-btn, .checkin-page.
      • Responsive breakpoints at 960/860px; reduced-motion support.
    • app/page.tsx (force-dynamic):
      • Runs demoVault(), then freshDemoTick(v), then vaultStatus and landingStats in parallel.
      • Renders Petals, Reveal, Top, <DemoProvider initial={status} serverNow={Date.now()}>.
      • Hero: animated h1 words, Marigold seed 7, HeroPulse, paragraph, CheckinCard.
      • Then #how "The path home" with PathHome trail={trailPoints()}, then Afterwards.
      • Numbers section uses real stats: "23 of 24" shared notes, $0.0031 handbook, $0.00012 per answer.
      • "Leave something behind" section with /me buttons, then End.
    • app/demo.tsx ("use client"):
      • DemoProvider polls /api/demo/status every 1.5 s while visible, with an inFlight ref guard; now starts from serverNow.
      • Helpers: span() formats durations; HeroPulse, CheckinCard (POST /api/demo/checkin with burst), PathHome (petal trail plus <ol class="path"> plus LivePanel).
      • LivePanel: miss dots, clockText, a reset button, a phone per trusted person (on pending, shows "<owner> silent <span>. Approve only if he has died" with Approve/Deny calling /api/demo/decide), and an audit log of 7 entries in plain sentences via auditLine.
      • Afterwards:
      • Person tabs; Kabir comes before Riya because people are ordered by role, name.
      • Letter is fetched from /api/demo/letters after release.
      • Sealed placeholder with the link "Stop answering and watch it happen" to #how; pressed marigold.
      • Ask component:
      • Uses SUGGESTED questions. Riya: LIC / health insurance / diary. Kabir: laptop / SIP nominee / diary.
      • Shows "Search found X notes. FGA let Y through".
      • Before release, shows a locked message instead.
    • lib/stats.ts: landingStats(vaultId) returns notes count and private count, the latest Ultramarine handbook (items, dropped, cost), and the average answer cost.
    • lib/status.ts:
      • Exports type VaultStatus.
      • vaultStatus is now ONE SQL query using row_to_json/json_agg subqueries for switch, people, approvals, audit (50), checkins (20). Timestamps come back as strings.
      • Returns {state, switch{...}, people[{id,role,name,relation,linked}], approvals(current round only when confirming/released), checkins, audit}.
    • lib/switch.ts:
      • Added due(s, now, vault?). Confirming counts as due only when the vault is not demo.
      • tick(vaultId, now, known?: Vault) peeks at the switch without a lock and returns early if nothing is due.
      • The transaction uses for update skip locked. If the row is locked, it returns the current state.
      • getPeople(vaultId, tx) is used inside the transaction.
      • sendPing passes topic: vault.ntfy_topic.
    • lib/vault.ts:
      • Vault has ntfy_topic, and the select queries include it.
      • getPeople(vaultId, db = sql).
    • lib/ntfy.ts: push({topic?, ...}) uses opts.topic ?? NTFY_TOPIC.
    • lib/vault-admin.ts:
      • Added createVault(owner{name, email, sub}, trusted[]). Slug is v-<hex>, topic is still-here-<24hex>, the switch uses defaults (weekly). People are inserted (owner gets auth0_sub), an audit vault_created is written, then setVaultOwner.
      • Added deleteNote (deletes the row, then removes FGA readers).
    • lib/demo.ts: demoVault() is cached in memory.
    • lib/demo-fresh.ts: freshDemoTick(vault) ticks with the known vault; if released for more than 10 minutes, it runs demoReset.
    • app/api/demo/status/route.ts: uses freshDemoTick(v).
    • db/schema.sql: added ALTER TABLE vaults ADD COLUMN IF NOT EXISTS ntfy_topic text; (already applied with bun run db:schema).
    • app/me/actions.ts ("use server"):
      • A guard() wrapper returns {ok} or {error} and calls revalidatePath("/me").
      • Actions: createVaultAction (needs verified email, 2–3 trusted people, distinct emails, not self), checkInAction, testPushAction, addNoteAction (max 200, shared checkboxes), deleteNoteAction, addLetterAction, deleteLetterAction, addDocumentAction (max 40), deleteDocumentAction, handbookAction (ultramarine-1-flash, 5 per day).
    • app/me/forms.tsx ("use client"): useActionState forms CreateVaultForm, CheckInForm, TestPush, NoteForm, LetterForm, DocumentForm, HandbookButton, DeleteButton, and AskBox (POST /api/ask with vaultId).
    • app/me/page.tsx (force-dynamic):
      • Top has a Sign out link to /auth/logout.
      • No vault: shows NoVault with CreateVaultForm.
      • Owner view:
      • State row with facts and CheckInForm.
      • "Your phone" panel shows the ntfy topic and TestPush.
      • Trusted people with linked status.
      • Notes, Letters, Handbook (documents, button, latest stats, and a /api/handbook download).
      • Trusted view: before release, a waiting or "asked" message; after release, letters plus AskBox. The ${owner} typo is fixed.
    • app/still-here/[token]/page.tsx and answer.tsx: the signed check-in link page. It validates the token and checkin row, shows "Are you still here, <owner>?" (with "Last chance." prefix), and the Answer form POSTs to /api/checkin with {token, line}, with a petal burst.
    • vercel.json: {"regions":["iad1"],"crons":[{"path":"/api/cron/tick","schedule":"0 3 * * *"}]}.
    • Scratchpad scripts in /tmp/claude-1000/-home-anish-kumar-Code-hacktoberfest-week4-still-here/86b72450-2106-4778-8997-b9d17fb4ceb2/scratchpad/:
      • shot-app.py <url> <outprefix>: 1440 and 390 full-page screenshots; removes .pending.
      • flow.py: end-to-end demo flow.
      • dev.log: dev server output.
  3. Errors and fixes:

    • The Playwright networkidle wait never resolved because of polling. Switched to load.
    • Hydration mismatch from Date.now() in the client. Fixed by passing serverNow from the server.
    • Full-page screenshots showed hidden .reveal sections. The script now removes .pending.
    • Demo status calls hung or took 5–6 s.
      • Cause: overlapping polls piled up on for update, plus pool exhaustion (pool max 5) because getPeople used the global sql inside the transaction.
      • Fixes: skip locked, getPeople takes the tx, the client in-flight guard, a one-query vaultStatus, the tick peek fast path, and the cached demo vault.
      • Result: 1.24 s locally (DB is far away). Restarted the dev server; pkill -f "next dev" returns exit 144 but it works.
    • A stray <svg className="sr"> was removed. The pressed marigold now sits inside the letter.
    • The Auth0 Management API token fetch was denied by the classifier. Not retried.
  4. Problem Solving:

    • The end-to-end demo flow passes in a browser:
      • Reset, then the switch walks to confirming in about 40 s.
      • Approving both people releases the vault and opens the letter.
      • Kabir's laptop question is answered with the "My laptop" citation ("Search found 20 notes. FGA let 6 through for Kabir").
      • Kabir's diary question gives "Anish didn't leave a note about that."
      • No page errors.
    • Remaining nit from that run: .thanks text was empty right after the check-in click, probably a hydration or timing issue in the test. Worth checking.
    • /me can't be tested with a signed-in user without Auth0 credentials and users. Typecheck passes (bunx tsc --noEmit clean).
  5. All user messages:

    • "Read ../PLAN.md, ../WINNERS.md, and the memory notes hf26-week4, hf26-week3-sloth-errands and hf26-week2-replydesk. Secrets are in ../.env. Start the Wednesday work in PLAN.md: ... Stop for the design pick (3 options) before building the UI."
    • "yeah teh 3rd design looks good but i think we can improve more on thac looks and feel of death idk, like maybe some generated assests and animations make the website look mroe alive"
    • (Usage-limit reset note: continue.)
    • "in last design somehting was written on the white paper now its not, was that intentional?"
    • "btw yeah teh design looks good, lets go with it, build the whole project please"
    • "both database and server are deplyed in same region or not?"
  6. Pending Tasks:

    • Finish building the whole project:
      • Check the check-in message timing.
      • Screenshot the confirming state, the released state, and /still-here/<token> (make a token with checkinToken for a demo checkin row).
      • Screenshot /me signed out (redirects to Auth0).
    • Run the taste-skill lint/inspect, or at least the design-guardrails check (contrast, focus, 44px targets, 1440/390).
    • Run bun run build.
    • Commit (no co-author lines; git email [REDACTED]) and push to origin main.
    • Deploy to Vercel:
      • Set env vars from ../.env, plus CRON_SECRET and APP_BASE_URL set to the Vercel URL.
      • Region iad1.
      • Problem: FGA is currently a local docker OpenFGA, so production needs the Auth0 FGA store and client credentials from the user.
      • Problem: Auth0 callback/logout URLs must include the Vercel URL. That may need the user, since the Management API was denied.
      • Problem: the embedding model (onnxruntime-node) must work on Vercel.
    • Waiting on the user: Auth0 FGA store and credentials (then bun run fga:setup and re-seed); real trusted people's emails with Guardian enrolled.
    • Later from PLAN: check-in line to Backboard memory, Browserbase closures, eval and leak test (~40 questions), commit design-options, update PLAN.md progress and the hf26-week4 memory.
  7. Current Work:
Just answered the region question. The DB host IP [REDACTED] is in AWS us-east-1; the server isn't deployed yet and runs locally in India, about 300 ms per round trip. Vercel's iad1 is the same region, and it is now pinned in vercel.json. Then reran flow.py, which passed end to end:

    • "reset ok: 1 unanswered. Next ping in 2 s."
    • "confirming after 40 s"
    • Kabir's laptop answer with a citation.
    • Diary question gave no_note.
    • "errors: []" The only oddity is "after checkin:" printed empty text.
  8. Optional Next Step:
Keep building toward "build the whole project":

    • Look at flow-confirming.png and flow-released.png in the scratchpad.
    • Investigate the empty .thanks after the check-in click.
    • Screenshot the /still-here/[token] page.
    • Run bun run build to catch production build errors (for example server-action exports from guard()).
    • Then commit, push and prepare the Vercel deploy (region iad1). Tell the user that production FGA and the Auth0 callback URLs need their input.

Prod works up to release. Release fails because FGA_API_URL isn't set on Vercel (FGA runs only in local docker). That's the blocker I can't clear alone. Saving deploy facts to memory.

The whole site is built and live at https://still-here-gules.vercel.app, but a release can't finish on that live site yet. I need two things from you to fix that and make sign-in work there.

What's working:
- Landing page: the live demo vault walks alive → missed → confirming in about 40 s, and both mock phones can approve. Locally, everything after that works too: the letter opens, Kabir's laptop question is answered with its source note, and his diary question correctly gets "no note".
- /me: an owner can create a vault, check in, send a test push, and add or delete notes, letters and documents. The handbook button and a trusted-person view are there too. Signed out, it sends you to Auth0 login. I couldn't try it signed in, because there are no test users yet.
- /still-here/<token>: the check-in link page, checked at desktop and phone width.
- Checks: the production build is clean, small buttons are now 44px, and the code is pushed to GitHub. The earlier empty check-in message was only my test reading it too early; the message works.
- Hosting: Vercel runs in the same region as the Tiger database (us-east-1), and GitHub is connected, so each push deploys.
- Embedding model: it only fits on Vercel because I left the 260 MB GPU part out of the bundle. That's set in next.config.ts.

Broken on the live site: release stops right after both people approve, with the error Missing env var FGA_API_URL. FGA runs only in a local docker container on your machine, so the Vercel copy has none. The demo there is now stuck in "confirming" until FGA exists. The reset button clears it.

Needed from you:
1. Auth0 FGA: sign in at dashboard.fga.dev, create a store, and create client credentials with read and write access. Paste these into week4/.env: FGA_API_URL, FGA_STORE_ID, FGA_CLIENT_ID, FGA_CLIENT_SECRET, FGA_API_TOKEN_ISSUER, FGA_API_AUDIENCE. Then I'll run fga:setup, re-seed, copy them to Vercel and redeploy.
2. Auth0 app settings: add https://still-here-gules.vercel.app/auth/callback to Allowed Callback URLs, and https://still-here-gules.vercel.app to Allowed Logout URLs and Allowed Web Origins. Until then, signing in on the live site fails. I can't do this one myself: the Auth0 Management API token request was blocked earlier.

You

made a store called N/A accidently

Agent

No harm done. The app only uses the store ID, never the name, and nobody else sees it. Keep it.

If you'd still like a proper name, you can delete that store in the dashboard settings and make a new one called still-here. Either way works.

Next steps, all in that store:
1. Settings → Authorized Clients → Create Client. Give it read and write access, including model writes (I need that to load the model with fga:setup).
2. Copy the values the dashboard shows into week4/.env, then tell me when they're saved:
- FGA_API_URL (something like https://api.us1.fga.dev)
- FGA_STORE_ID
- FGA_CLIENT_ID
- FGA_CLIENT_SECRET (shown only once, so copy it straight away)
- FGA_API_TOKEN_ISSUER
- FGA_API_AUDIENCE
3. Clear FGA_MODEL_ID. fga:setup writes the model and fills in the new ID.

The Auth0 callback URLs are still needed too, for signing in on the live site.

Agent

That screen is fine. Auth0 made that store for you automatically, so "N/A" is just its default name. The US flag means it runs in the US region, the same as Vercel and the database. The store ID is in the address bar (01M5Z9NV8VSTAZ5HEQXDJW2VM0), so I have that one already.

The "Upgrade to Enterprise to use in production" note doesn't affect a hackathon demo; the free trial covers it.

Next:
1. Click Store Settings in the left menu.
2. Under Authorized Clients, click Create Client. Name it still-here and tick all the permissions: read and query tuples, write and delete tuples, and read and write authorization models.
3. A box opens with the client ID, client secret, API URL, token issuer and audience. Copy the whole box into week4/.env under these names:
- FGA_API_URL
- FGA_STORE_ID=01M5Z9NV8VSTAZ5HEQXDJW2VM0
- FGA_CLIENT_ID
- FGA_CLIENT_SECRET (shown only once)
- FGA_API_TOKEN_ISSUER
- FGA_API_AUDIENCE
4. Leave FGA_MODEL_ID empty. Setup fills it in.

Tell me when the values are saved and I'll load the model, re-seed the data and redeploy.

Agent
Agent

Three of the FGA values were wrong. I fixed them, and the whole demo now works on https://still-here-gules.vercel.app. The live site has walked through release, the opened letter, Kabir's laptop answer with its source note, and "no note" for the diary question, with no errors.

What you entered:
- Correct:
- FGA_STORE_ID
- FGA_CLIENT_ID
- FGA_CLIENT_SECRET (64 characters)
- Wrong, now fixed:
- FGA_API_URL still pointed at the local docker. It's now https://api.us1.fga.dev.
- FGA_API_TOKEN_ISSUER had a stray ' at the end. It's now auth.fga.dev.
- FGA_API_AUDIENCE was empty. It's now https://api.us1.fga.dev/.
- Stale, now replaced: FGA_MODEL_ID was the local one. Loading the model into the new store gave a new ID.

After that I re-seeded the demo vault so its permissions sit in the new store, and copied all the FGA values to Vercel.

The live site also needed one more file in its bundle for the embedding model, so questions had been failing there. Fixed and pushed.

Still needed from you: signing in on the live site fails until you do this. In the Auth0 dashboard, go to Applications, open the app, then Settings:
- Allowed Callback URLs: add https://still-here-gules.vercel.app/auth/callback
- Allowed Logout URLs: add https://still-here-gules.vercel.app
- Allowed Web Origins: add https://still-here-gules.vercel.app

Then save. Keep the localhost entries that are already there.

You

changes done

Agent
Agent

Sign-in now works on the live site. Opening https://still-here-gules.vercel.app/me goes to the Auth0 login page with no callback URL error. I didn't log in all the way, because there's no test account.

One small thing: the login page says "continue to Hacktoberfest-devto", the name of the Week 3 app. Judges will see that. To fix it, go to Auth0 dashboard → Applications → that app → Settings, change the Name to Still Here, and save. Nothing in the code needs to change.

After that, sign in on the live site yourself and create your vault. Use real emails for Kabir and Riya, or two of your own spare emails. Each of them needs to sign in once and have Auth0 Guardian on their phone before release can reach them.

You

that is fine no need to rename it, i wanna what else is left in building the project

Agent
Agent
Agent

The core project is done and live. These are what's left from PLAN.md, in my suggested order:

Building, which I can do now:
1. Backboard memory. The line typed with each check-in ("moved my FD to SBI") should go to Backboard, which replaces old facts with new ones. Right now the line is only saved in the database. That's needed for the Backboard track.
2. Browserbase jobs (optional). After release, close accounts and cancel subscriptions on demo sites using Stagehand, one screenshot per step. You have 43 of 60 free minutes left. That's needed for the Browserbase track, but skip it if time gets short.
3. Eval and leak test. About 40 questions over the demo notes, counting answers with a correct source, correct "no note" replies, and wrong answers, with model sizes compared. Plus questions from Riya aimed at Kabir's notes, where any leak at all fails. The post needs these numbers.
4. README. It's still the first-day version. It needs what the project does, how it decides, the stack, how to run it, and the live link.

Needs you:

  1. A real run with phones. Sign in on the live site, make a real vault, and add two trusted people whose emails you control. Each signs in once and has Auth0 Guardian on their phone. Then stop answering and approve the pushes for real. That proves the Auth0 CIBA part actually works, which the demo only fakes.

Saturday:

  1. The demo video (/demo-video skill) and POST.md, then you publish the post.

You're about a day ahead of schedule: Thursday's design build and Friday's deploy are already done. I'll start on Backboard next unless you'd rather go in a different order.

You

This session is being continued from a previous conversation that ran out of context. The summary below covers the earlier portion of the conversation.

<system-reminder>
<tools-used-before-summary>Bash, Edit, Monitor, Read, Skill, TaskStop, ToolSearch, WebFetch, WebSearch, Write</tools-used-before-summary>
</system-reminder>
Summary:
1. Primary Request and Intent:

Project. Still Here is a Hacktoberfest 2026 DEV Week 4 ("Ghost in the Machine") entry: a dead man's switch with an open model inside. The deadline is Sun Nov 1, 12:29 PM IST.
- Repo: [REDACTED]/Code/hacktoberfest/week4/still-here, pushed to https://github.com/Sarcastic-Soul/still-here.

Earlier requests (all done):
- Wednesday plan work.
- Design pick: option 3 v2.
- "build the whole project".
- Region question: Vercel iad1 matches Tiger in us-east-1.
- Deploy to Vercel at https://still-here-gules.vercel.app.
- Auth0 FGA hosted store setup. The user created a store; Auth0 named it "N/A" by default. Store id 01M5Z9NV8VSTAZ5HEQXDJW2VM0, US region.
- Auth0 callback URLs: added by the user ("changes done").
- The user said there is no need to rename the Auth0 app ("Hacktoberfest-devto").

Latest explicit request (current): "add backboard, skip browser base, and do 3&4. after that push all the changes with celanup to github repo."
- 3 = eval (~40 questions, comparing open model sizes) plus the FGA leak test.
- 4 = README rewrite.
- Then clean up, commit and push.

Global user rules (keep verbatim):
- Commits: "Never add yourself as a co-author. Do not append a Co-Authored-By: Claude ... trailer, a 🤖 Generated with Claude Code line, or any other attribution to a commit message — in any repository. Commits are authored by the user alone." Git email is REDACTED. The user's CLAUDE.md overrides the system reminder asking for Co-Authored-By lines.
- Artifacts: "Never publish an Artifact. Write files locally only. No exceptions unless explicitly asked to publish/share, in the same message."
- UI: load the design-guardrails pipeline. "Use Phosphor or Heroicons, never Lucide. No blue/purple gradients or gradient text."
- Writing: plain English in prose. Never wrap copy-paste text in blockquotes.
- Secrets: they live in week4/.env, outside the repo. Never commit them. Never print secret values; mask them when inspecting.
- Services: no card on any service. Never suggest the .tech track.
- Machine: 7.5 GiB RAM; use bun.
- Autonomy: create the public repo, push, deploy to Vercel, and sign up for free services without asking.
- Style: caveman ultra in chat. Code, commits and docs stay in normal prose.
- Entire: don't run setup or destructive entire commands without asking.
- The classifier denied fetching an Auth0 Management API token. Don't work around it.

  1. Key Technical Concepts:

Stack
- Next.js 16.4.3 (Turbopack, proxy.ts, after() from next/server), React 19.3.1, TS 6.0.3, bun.
- Fonts: Instrument Serif and Geist. Icons: @phosphor-icons/react.

Data and search
- Tiger Postgres in us-east-1 (~300 ms round trip from local).
- Hybrid BM25 + pgvector/DiskANN with RRF.
- Embeddings: bge-small-en-v1.5 via @huggingface/transformers plus onnxruntime-node.

Auth and access
- Auth0 login and CIBA (Guardian).
- Auth0 FGA hosted store, US region: FGA_API_URL=https://api.us1.fga.dev, FGA_API_TOKEN_ISSUER=auth.fga.dev, FGA_API_AUDIENCE=https://api.us1.fga.dev/, FGA_MODEL_ID=01M5Z9ZBEGHN41SK4V1AFV7YM6.
- Release writes vault:<id>#released@user:*.

Models
- Groq gpt-oss-120b answers, gpt-oss-20b handles memory decisions, qwen3.8-27b is in the comparison.
- Ultramarine ultramarine-1-flash writes the handbook.
- A usage table logs every model call.

Backboard memory API (https://app.backboard.io/api, header X-API-Key)
- POST /assistants {name} returns assistant_id.
- POST /assistants/{id}/memories {content, metadata} returns memory_id.
- PUT /assistants/{id}/memories/{mid} {content} updates a memory.
- POST /assistants/{id}/memories/search {query, limit} returns memories with a score, where higher is more relevant.
- GET /assistants/{id}/memories?page_size=100 lists memories.
- DELETE /assistants/{id} deletes the assistant.
- The free credit covers memory only, not chat.

Vercel
- Project still-here, team anish-kumars-projects-4d4aed63, region iad1, GitHub connected (each push deploys).
- Function limit is 250 MB, so trace includes/excludes are set in next.config.ts.
- Env vars are copied from ../.env, including FGA_*, CRON_SECRET and APP_BASE_URL=https://still-here-gules.vercel.app.

  1. Files and Code Sections:

Earlier commits this session
- f1ed8c8 "Build the site: live demo vault, owner and trusted pages, check-in links".
- "Fit the embedding runtime into a Vercel function": next.config.ts trace rules, lib/embed.ts setting env.cacheDir="/tmp/hf" when VERCEL, and globals.css changes (44px chips, .link-btn min-width 44px).
- "Ship onnxruntime-common's CommonJS build with the functions".

next.config.ts
- serverExternalPackages: ["@huggingface/transformers","onnxruntime-node"].
- outputFileTracingIncludes under "/**":
- onnxruntime-node/package.json
- onnxruntime-node/dist/**
- onnxruntime-common/**
- onnxruntime-node/bin/napi-v*/linux/x64/{onnxruntime_binding.node,libonnxruntime.so.1,libonnxruntime_providers_shared.so}
- outputFileTracingExcludes: the cuda/tensorrt .so files, the darwin/win32 and linux/arm64 builds, and onnxruntime-web/**.
- Resulting trace is about 130 MB.

      • On replaces, calls updateMemory and writes audit memory_replaced. Otherwise it adds the memory with metadata {at, source:"check-in"} and writes audit memory_added.
      • Returns {action, fact, replaced}.
    • rememberQuietly: try/catch wrapper around remember.
    • currentFacts(vaultId): lists the memories.
    • memoryCounts(vaultId): added and replaced counts from the audit_log table.
  • db/schema.sql. Adds ALTER TABLE vaults ADD COLUMN IF NOT EXISTS backboard_assistant_id text; and a usage job comment that includes memory. Already applied with bun run db:schema.

  • lib/llm.ts. Job now includes "memory", and JOB_MODEL.memory = "gpt-oss-20b".

  • app/api/checkin/route.ts and app/me/actions.ts (checkInAction).

    • Both call after(() => rememberQuietly(vaultId, r.line)) when the check-in succeeds.
    • The action message adds " Backboard will file your line in a moment."
    • Demo check-ins are NOT sent to Backboard.
  • lib/handbook.ts.

    • Check-in facts are added as factDocs with id memory:<id>, kind "check-in", title "Check-in YYYY-MM-DD", labelled m1, m2…
    • The prompt says check-in facts are newer and win conflicts. The user text reads "Documents and check-in facts:".
    • renderDocx receives [...docs, ...factDocs]. The drop reason is "source not a document or check-in".
  • app/me/page.tsx. Adds a "What Backboard remembers" panel listing the facts with added/replaced counts. currentFacts and memoryCounts are added to Promise.all.

  • app/demo.tsx. auditLine handles memory_added ("Backboard filed a new fact.") and memory_replaced ("Backboard replaced an old fact.").

  • db/demo-data.ts.

    • Adds DEMO_CHECKIN_LINES: 12 lines with expected actions.
    • The "Locker 214 key is with Riya now" line was changed to expect "new".
  • scripts/seed.ts.

    • Deletes the old demo Backboard assistant.
    • Plays the DEMO_CHECKIN_LINES through remember(), one week apart, and prints ok/MISS. The last run: 12/12, with 3 facts replaced.
    • The DB was re-seeded. Demo vault id is now new: the vault was recreated at least twice this session.
  • lib/stats.ts and app/page.tsx.

    • landingStats adds memory {replaced, filed} from audit_log.
    • The numbers section now has 4 items in a 2x2 grid. The 4th reads "{replaced} old facts replaced in Backboard memory…".
    • CSS: .numbers uses repeat(2,1fr), with nth-child(even) getting a border-left and nth-child(n+3) a border-top. On mobile the even border-left is reset and div + div gets a border-top.
    • Verified in a screenshot: shows 3.
  • Handbook run. Ultramarine run done, costing $0.0039, 19 lines, 0 dropped. Check-in facts override statements (Netflix moved to UPI, FD papers in locker 214, Cultfit yearly).

  • db/eval-questions.ts (new). 42 questions with EvalQuestion {who, q, kind: answer|other|private|absent, note?, must?, secret?}:

    • 24 "answer" (14 Riya, 10 Kabir)
    • 11 "other" (7 Kabir→Riya, 4 Riya→Kabir)
    • 2 private (diary)
    • 5 absent
  • scripts/eval.ts (new; "eval": "bun scripts/eval.ts" added to package.json).

    • Locked pass before release counts notes reaching the model (must be 0).
    • Release logic: demoReset, tick until confirming, then demoDecide approvals. It re-releases per model.
    • Models: gpt-oss-20b, gpt-oss-120b, qwen3.8-27b, with log:false.
    • Scoring for answer questions: correct (cites the expected note and contains all must words), incomplete, wrong_source, or missed.
    • Scoring for non-answer questions: correct when not answered, otherwise answered_anyway.
    • Leak check: secret strings, plus 4+ digit numbers found only in notes the asker may not read.
    • Usage stats come from the usage table since started.
    • Writes eval/results.json and eval/RESULTS.md (table plus every miss), then runs demoReset.
  • README.md. Fully rewritten: how it decides, a pieces table, the Numbers section with an <!-- eval-summary --> placeholder to fill, run instructions (script release:demo), layout, MIT.

  • Removed dead code: canRead in lib/fga.ts and updateNote in lib/vault-admin.ts. Typecheck passes.

  • week4/PLAN.md (outside the repo). Added a "Progress (Oct 28)" section and replaced the old "Needs the user" list.

  • Memory file [REDACTED]/.claude-work/projects/-home-anish-kumar-Code-hacktoberfest/memory/hf26-week4.md: appended the deploy and FGA state.

  1. Errors and fixes:

    • .thanks text was empty: only test timing. Verified "Answered. The clock starts again." after a reset.
    • Token script column names: the column is sent_at, not created_at or asked_at.
    • zsh --include=*.ts no-match errors: dropped the --include flags.
    • Env regex [A-Z_] skipped the AUTH0 vars because of the digit; re-added them separately.
    • First prod 500 "Missing env var APP_BASE_URL": set it and redeployed.
    • Prod release failed with "Missing env var FGA_API_URL" before hosted FGA existed: fixed once the user created the store.
    • The user's FGA env had a wrong FGA_API_URL (localhost), a stray ' in the issuer, an empty audience, and a stale model id. Fixed; fga:setup succeeded, then re-seed.
    • Prod ask failed with "Cannot find module onnxruntime-common/dist/cjs/index.js": added it to the trace includes.
    • onnxruntime-node was not traced at all (dynamic import): added explicit includes.
    • memoryCounts queried the audit table: renamed to audit_log.
    • Eval TS typing error on Object.fromEntries: cast to Record.
    • Memory facts said "The person…": the prompt now passes the owner's name.
  2. Problem Solving:

    • Production full flow passes on still-here-gules.vercel.app: release, letter, Kabir's laptop answer with citation, diary no_note, no errors.
    • Backboard pipeline verified: 12/12 expected actions.
    • Eval running in the background (task bde81nbtl, monitor bb10pf1fg); log at /tmp/claude-1000/-home-anish-kumar-Code-hacktoberfest-week4-still-here/86b72450-2106-4778-8997-b9d17fb4ceb2/scratchpad/eval.log.
      • Locked: "42 questions before release, 0 notes reached the model".
      • gpt-oss-20b done: ...............................x..x....... (2 misses, no "L" leak marks).
      • gpt-oss-120b and qwen3.8-27b are still running.
  3. All user messages:

    • (Earlier sessions: Wednesday plan, design pick, "build the whole project", region question.)
    • "made a store called N/A accidently"
    • [screenshot of the FGA dashboard showing store N/A]
    • "i think i added them please confirm which is coreect wnad which i swrong and what is still required"
    • "changes done" (Auth0 callback URLs)
    • "that is fine no need to rename it, i wanna what else is left in building the project"
    • "add backboard, skip browser base, and do 3&4. after that push all the changes with celanup to github repo."
  4. Pending Tasks:

    • Wait for the eval to finish. Read eval/RESULTS.md and look at the misses. Fix any real problems if quick, but report honestly.
    • Fill the README <!-- eval-summary --> placeholder with the real numbers:
      • locked 0
      • per-model accuracy and leaks
      • Backboard 12/12 lines and 3 replaced
      • handbook $0.0039, 19 lines
    • Run bunx tsc --noEmit and bun run build. Restore next-env.d.ts with git checkout if the build modifies it.
    • Optionally screenshot /me or the landing page.
    • Commit everything with normal-prose messages and no co-author/attribution lines: Backboard, eval, README, cleanup, and eval/ results files. Push to origin main, which auto-deploys to Vercel.
    • Verify the production site after deploy (curl / and run flow.py prod). Note: the eval reset the demo vault at the end.
    • Report to the user in caveman style: the results, plus the real CIBA phone run still needing them, and the demo video and POST.md on Saturday.
  5. Current Work:
Running bun run eval in the background after building the Backboard memory, the eval script and the README. The last output seen: "locked: 42 questions before release, 0 notes reached the model" and "...............................x..x....... gpt-oss-20b". I was waiting for gpt-oss-120b and qwen3.8-27b to finish, after which RESULTS.md and the console.table are written.

  6. Optional Next Step:
When the eval finishes, read eval/RESULTS.md, put the summary into README's <!-- eval-summary -->, typecheck and build, then commit and push per the user's request: "add backboard, skip browser base, and do 3&4. after that push all the changes with celanup to github repo." After that, confirm the Vercel deploy is healthy and report the numbers.

Backboard is added, the eval and the README rewrite are done, and everything is pushed to GitHub in 4 commits. Vercel deployed it (Ready), and the full demo flow on production passes with no errors: release, Kabir's laptop answer with citation, diary refused.

Commits:
- 96c8bdf Backboard memory. Each check-in line becomes a fact in Backboard: a new fact, a replacement for an old one, or nothing. The handbook treats these facts as newer than the documents. The /me page and landing page show them. BACKBOARD_API_KEY was already set on Vercel.
- 0f85624 Cleanup: removed unused canRead and updateNote.
- ff274b8 The eval: bun run eval, with 42 questions and results in eval/RESULTS.md.
- 8f2b45e README rewrite, with the real numbers.

Eval:
- Before release: 0 notes reached the model.

Model Total Leaks Cost per answer Median latency
gpt-oss-20b 40/42 0 $0.00006 530 ms
gpt-oss-120b 39/42 0 $0.00012 566 ms
qwen3.8-27b 39/42 0 $0.00017 188 ms
  • No leaks: none in 126 answers.
  • Two misses shared by all 3 models (not leaks): Riya asked about the laptop and the subscriptions, which are in Kabir's notes. Her own Work and HDFC card notes also mention them, so the models answered from notes she is allowed to read. The README says this plainly.
  • Other misses: gpt-oss-120b once answered the money question from the wrong side. qwen3.8-27b hedged on PPF instead of giving the plain "no note" reply.
  • Smallest model: gpt-oss-20b matched the larger models at half the cost. Answers still use gpt-oss-120b by default; switching is one line in lib/llm.ts.

Backboard: 12 of 12 check-in lines got the expected action, and 3 old facts were replaced. The handbook run cost $0.0039 and kept 19 lines, with none dropped.

Still needs you:
- A real CIBA approval on your phone (Guardian push).
- The demo video and POST.md on Saturday. The deadline is Sun Nov 1, 12:29 IST.

You

the project is done and live right

Agent

Yes, the build is done and live at https://still-here-gules.vercel.app. The last push deployed fine, and the full demo flow passes on production with no errors.

Not done yet:
- Real CIBA on your phone. The demo approves for the trusted people with code. A real Guardian push to a real phone has never been tested. It needs you logged in with Guardian enrolled.
- Submission. The demo video and the DEV post (POST.md) still need making. Then submit before Sun Nov 1, 12:29 PM IST.

The code itself has nothing left to build.

Eval watcher expired, which is fine because the eval already finished. Nothing else changed: the site is live and the only things left are the real phone approval test, the demo video and the DEV post.

You need three Auth0 accounts and two Guardian enrollments. I'll speed up the clock.

1. Pick 3 emails. Gmail + aliases work: they count as different accounts but all land in your inbox.
- Owner: [REDACTED]
- Trusted 1: [REDACTED]
- Trusted 2: [REDACTED]

The site won't let you be your own trusted person, so the owner email must differ from both.

2. Set up as owner. Sign in at https://still-here-gules.vercel.app/me. Create a vault, enter the two trusted emails, and add a letter for each plus a couple of notes.

3. Sign in as each trusted person. Use a private window, sign up with each alias, then sign out.
- Signing in links the account to the vault.
- If Auth0 shows a QR code, scan it with the Guardian app. Your one phone can hold both accounts.
- If no QR code appears: in the Auth0 dashboard, open Security, then Multi-factor Auth. Turn on "Push Notification using Auth0 Guardian" and set the policy to Always for the test. Then sign in again as each alias and scan.

4. Tell me when done. I'll shorten the timers on your vault to about a minute and run the ticks. Your phone then gets two Guardian pushes, one per trusted account. Approve both and the vault releases. Then sign in as an alias and read the letter.

Screen-record your phone during step 4. That approval is the best clip for the demo video.

When the test is done, I'll set your vault back to weekly. You can switch the MFA policy back too if you like.

You

can use some other throwaway mail for this? like [REDACTED]

Agent

Yes, any email works.
- The app only checks that the 3 emails are different.
- Auth0 doesn't care which address you use.

For example:
- Owner: [REDACTED]
- Trusted 1: [REDACTED]
- Trusted 2: [REDACTED], or any other address

Each trusted account must be enrolled in Guardian. Your one phone can hold both accounts.

The emails show on screen in the video. Pick ones you're fine showing, or I'll blur them later.

You

Vault created with 3 trusted people. All three must approve, so all three need to sign in and enroll in Guardian. To test with two, removing Anshul isn't in the UI; tell me and I'll take Anshul out from the DB.

Below is mock data to paste. Each item says who to tick.

Notes

Note 1, tick Ravi and Riya.

Title:
LIC life insurance policy

What they need to know:
LIC Jeevan Anand policy number 512 884 307, sum assured 10 lakh. The paper is in the blue file in the steel almirah, top shelf. Nominee is Maa. To claim, go to the LIC branch at Shankar Nagar, Raipur with the death certificate, the policy paper and Maa's Aadhaar. Agent is Mr. Sahu, 98271 40512.

Note 2, tick Ravi only.

Title:
SBI savings account

What they need to know:
SBI account ending 4471 at the Telibandha branch, Raipur. Nominee is Ravi. The passbook is in the same blue file as the LIC paper. Salary comes here. Close it after moving the money; the branch needs the death certificate and the nominee's ID.

Note 3, tick Riya only.

Title:
Phone and laptop

What they need to know:
Phone PIN is in a sealed envelope inside the Bhagavad Gita on my desk. Keep the Jio number active for three months so OTPs still reach it. Wipe the laptop and give it to Riya; the backup drive in the drawer has all the photos.

Note 4, tick Anshul only.

Title:
Money I owe and money owed to me

What they need to know:
I owe Anshul 6,000 for the Goa trip; please pay him from my SBI account. Rohit owes me 2,500 and will pay it if asked. No other loans.

Note 5, tick nobody (tests the "private" case).

Title:
Diary

What they need to know:
My diaries are in the second drawer. Burn them unread.

Letters

For Ravi:
Bhai, if you're reading this, the switch did its job. The papers are where the notes say. Look after Maa first and the paperwork second. You were always the calm one, so be that now. I'm proud of you.

For Riya:
Riya, the laptop is yours, and so are all the photos on the backup drive. Don't let anyone make you sad about the small things. Finish your degree. I'm still cheering for you from somewhere.

For Anshul:
Anshul, I still owe you for Goa, and Ravi will sort it. Thanks for every late-night call. Go on the trip we kept postponing and take someone loud.

Handbook documents

Document 1. Kind: Policy.

Title:
Star Health renewal notice

Text:
Star Health and Allied Insurance. Family Health Optima policy 4471983. Insured: Anish, Maa. Sum insured 5,00,000. Renews 14 August 2027. Premium 18,420, auto-debited from HDFC credit card ending 6161. Claims helpline 1800 425 2255.

Document 2. Kind: Statement.

Title:
HDFC credit card statement, September 2026

Text:
HDFC Millennia card ending 6161. Statement date 20 Sep 2026. Total due 7,812, due 10 Oct 2026. Recurring charges: Spotify 119, Star Health premium 18,420 (yearly, August), Netflix 649. To close the card call 1800 202 6161 after paying the final bill.

Check-in lines (to test Backboard)

Write one of these each time you press "I'm still here":
- moved Netflix payment from HDFC card to UPI
- LIC paper moved to bank locker 214
- all good

The second line should replace an old fact in "What Backboard remembers". The third should file nothing.

Next

Sign in once as each of the 3 aliases in a private window. Enroll each one in Guardian when Auth0 shows the QR code. When all 3 show as signed in on your page, tell me and I'll shorten the timers.

i ahve done these so far, we need to record video and cappture screenshots of for blog post , which parrt can you do and what requires my input like login with mail and stuff

Agent

Good progress. One small fix: the SBI note's body starts with "What they need to know:" because the label got pasted in. Edit it out. Otherwise the model will quote that label.

What I can do alone (no login needed):
- Screenshots of the public landing page and live demo: the switch walking through alive, missed, confirming and released, then the letters and the Q&A with FGA counts. The demo vault shows the whole story without any account.
- The demo video. The demo-video skill records the public site by itself: cursor, zoom, narration, title card and outro. Your phone clip slots into it.
- Terminal and doc shots for the blog: the eval table, eval/RESULTS.md, and a handbook .docx render.
- Shortening your vault's timers and running the ticks for the real CIBA test.
- A first draft of POST.md.

What needs you:
1. Sign in as Ravi, Riya and Anshul. Use a private window for each alias and enroll each one in Guardian (scan the QR code). Only you can do this, since it needs the inbox and your phone.
2. Logged-in screenshots. I'll open a visible browser window from Playwright. You log in there as owner, and I save that session and capture the /me pages myself. We repeat this once as a trusted person after release, for the letter and the Q&A.
3. Phone screen recording during the real CIBA test: the Guardian push arriving and you tapping approve, three times. That's the money shot for the video.
4. Click "Write the handbook" on your page, or tell me and I'll run it from the terminal for your vault.
5. Review. Watch the video draft and edit POST.md in your voice, since it goes out under your name.

Order I suggest:
1. You do item 1 now.
2. Meanwhile, I capture the public screenshots and record the video walkthrough.
3. When all 3 people show as "signed in", tell me. I shorten the timers, you start recording your phone, and I tick until the pushes arrive.
4. After release, we do the logged-in screenshots together.

Shall I start the public screenshots and the video now?

Demo video pipeline

Runs the demo-video-pipeline against the project in the current directory.
The pipeline lives at a fixed path, separate from the target project:

PIPELINE=[REDACTED]/Code/Hackathons/demo-video-pipeline

You write the video plan yourself from the project's code. You know the
real features, numbers and UI better than an LLM reading a brief, so don't
ask the user to write it, and don't use the --brief LLM fallbacks unless
there's no other way.

The user's standing preferences

These hold for every project unless the user asks otherwise in the
current conversation:

  • Play order: hook, title, live demo, slides, outro. Show the product working first, then explain how it works. This is the pipeline's default, so don't add a "sequence" just for it. Write each part for that order (see step 5).
  • Hook to product bridge. The first line after the hook (the title card's say) turns from the problem to the product: "Every on-call team knows this night. So we built Incident War Room." Never a bare "This is X": it makes the product name sound like the name of the problem.
  • Ink theme, light site. Leave "theme" out of the plan (the default ink look is the user's favorite). Record the site in light mode: no demo.color_scheme: "dark", no dark presets (glass, terminal). The Open Peeps art is drawn for light colors and dark versions were rejected.

Steps

  1. Pick a project_name (short, no spaces), e.g. the repo folder name.

  2. Read the project. README, the main pages/components, API routes. Find:
the problem it solves, how it works, what's special, and the deployed URL.
Ask for the URL only if it isn't in the repo.

  3. Scout the live site (one command, ~20s; don't write your own
    Playwright script):
    bash
    uv run --project "$PIPELINE" python3 "$PIPELINE/run_pipeline.py" scout <url> "$project_name" \
    [--path /dashboard --path /pricing] [--dark]

    It writes $PIPELINE/output/$project_name/scout/: report.md (title,
headings, measured colors/fonts/shadows, CSS color variables),
selectors.txt (every clickable/typeable element with its best stable
selector and how many elements it matches; !! marks ones that match
more than one), theme.json (a suggested "theme" block) and
screenshots (<page>.png first screen, <page>-full.png whole page).
Read report.md and look at the screenshots of each screen the demo
    will touch. Take selectors from selectors.txt instead of guessing;
prefer ones that match exactly 1. Pages behind a login aren't scouted:
if the site needs one, walk it with --only record (step 6) instead.
--dark scouts the dark color scheme; only when the user asks for a
dark video (then set demo.color_scheme: "dark").

  4. Theme. Default: leave "theme" out (ink, see the preferences
above) and skip the rest of this step. Only when the user asks for a
look that matches the product: start from scout/theme.json, then check it against
    the project's own styling (tailwind.config.*, globals.css /
app.css CSS variables, the logo) and fix what scout got wrong: the
brand color is the one on primary buttons and the logo, not a link in a
    promo banner. Presets (README, "Theme"):

    • clean: light SaaS, white cards, thin borders, soft shadows. Most web apps.
    • glass: dark UI with soft color glows. Dark dashboards, AI and dev tools.
    • terminal: dark, monospace headings, grid, one bright accent. CLIs, infra, security.
    • brutal: thick outlines, hard shadows, flat colors. Neobrutalist sites.
    • ink: the original cartoon look (flat mood colors, doodles, grain). Playful consumer apps, games, anything with no strong look of its own. Override only what the product really has: accent (always, when the product has a brand color), bg/surface/text/line for dark or tinted sites, font when the site uses a distinctive Google font, radius from its cards. check rejects fonts that aren't on Google Fonts. The Open Peeps character appears in every theme.
  5. Write $PIPELINE/output/$project_name/video.json. Schema and the
action list are in $PIPELINE/README.md ("The video plan"). Guidelines:

    • slides: 3-4 slides after the demo: scale of the problem (one real number, optional) -> how it works -> why it stands out. Don't lead into the demo (it already played). Narration 15-22 words each, plain spoken English. Bullets 3-6 word fragments. Use real facts from the code (endpoints, numbers, stack). One slide can use a screenshot ("image": "shots/<name>.png") taken by a snap action during recording. Give the problem slide "mood" (e.g. "curious") so the hook's character appears on it. Make 2-3 slides picture slides instead of bullets (README): "layout": "diagram" for the architecture whenever the project has more than one moving part (frontend, API, database, queue, AI model, third-party service: 3-8 nodes with logo / icon, edges labelled with what flows; this is the "how it's wired" slide and should be in almost every video), "flow" for the user-facing steps (2-5 steps, Phosphor icon names like "clipboard-text"; never emoji), "compare" for before/after, "stack" for the tech strip, "stat" only for real numbers from the code or docs (never invented or live ones). They read faster than bullets. A good set: diagram + stack, or flow + diagram + compare. Don't use two slides of the same layout. Every part (hook, slides, demo frame, outro) uses the plan's top-level "theme" from step 4.
    • order: the video plays hook, title, demo, slides, outro. The title card's say bridges from the hook's problem to the product ("So we built X"), and the first demo scene follows it directly, so it opens on the product's main screen. The slides come after the viewer has seen the product: they explain how it works and why it stands out, not "let's see it live".
    • captions: off by default. When the user asks for subtitles or captions, add "captions": true (bottom center, white on a dark box; {"size", "font", "bottom"} to tweak, README "Captions"). They are built from each say / narration as written, so spell names the way they should read on screen and put spoken spellings in "lexicon".
    • demo: 4-7 scenes, ~40-70s total. One idea per scene. Narration says why it matters, not just what's clicked. Use zoom on the thing being talked about and zoom_out before moving elsewhere. Put "cut": true on waits for slow API calls. Use "say_at": "end" when the narration should come after a result appears. If zooms land on small text, set "scale": 2 on the demo (1440p capture, sharper, about 40% slower demo render). Set "auto_zoom": true so typing is readable. On the key result, add a {"spotlight": sel} or a {"callout": sel, "text": "1-4 words"} (one per scene at most; don't scroll while it shows).
    • hook: 4-6 scenes, ~15-25s. A relatable person hits the problem the project solves: normal moment -> the trigger -> the bad outcome. Pick a mood per scene (17: happy excited curious worried shocked sad angry relieved confident love smug tired awe playful proud embarrassed focused) and a prop that shows the problem. Match the prop to what the narration says: a phone prop has an app (README, hook props): chat for a message or text, call for a phone call, notification for an alert or bank text, email, review for a rating, payment for money in or out (failed: true for a charge that shouldn't happen), ai for an assistant's answer, weather, and post only for something posted on social media. Never draw a text or a call as a post. Other props: stat (a big number, with a bar for "38 of 400"), chart, alert, check, question. Vary props and moods across scenes (don't use the same prop kind three times, don't end every scene sad/shocked); use "react": ["curious", "shocked"] on a scene where the feeling changes while the line is spoken, and the positive moods (awe, love, proud, smug, playful) for the outro and wins. Keep lines short; end on the pain; the title card and demo bring the fix. Give the person a name and a look (skin + hairStyle, e.g. Long, Afro, Bun, Hijab; vary it per project so videos don't all star the same person). Every line is the narrator (third person); the character never talks. No emoji in any on-screen text (phone posts, bubbles, labels): write :rocket-launch: for a Phosphor icon, or plain text. The character wears one outfit all video (look.outfit, default Hoodie; pick another body name once if it suits the story). Moods only change the face, so never set "pose" on a scene: it swaps the clothes and looks like a different person. Schema in the README.
    • outro: the full-circle ending. 1-2 scenes, the same person now using the product ("Now Sam checks every post with Receipts first"), mood relieved/happy, props check or screenshot of a snap taken in the demo. Then cta: title "Try <Product> now", a one-line subtitle on what it does for the viewer, the deployed URL without https://, and a short say. ~10-15s total.
    • Live numbers: the live site's data changes between runs. Don't put exact live numbers (verdict counts, prices) in narration or drawn props; show them through the recording or a snap instead.
    • Not a website, or has footage the user recorded (phone app, desktop app, camera feed through a model): ask the user for the recording and use "demo": {"video": "<file>", "scenes": [{"at": <second>, "say": ...}]} (README, "Your own recording as the demo"). Watch it first (pull frames with ffmpeg every few seconds) to pick at times, zoom and tap spots (0-1 fractions of the frame). Portrait recordings get a phone frame; add "panel": {"title": ...} and a short "step" per scene (plus a "panel" card on 2-3 key scenes) so the empty side isn't blank.
    • Extra footage (a camera shot, a second user's view): put {"clip": "<file>"} in a top-level "sequence", e.g. ["hook", "title", "demo", {"clip": "admin_view.mp4"}, "slides", "outro"].
    • Leave everything else at its default: a plain website plan needs no layout or sequence fields.
    • lexicon: add project names, tickers and acronyms Kokoro might say wrong (e.g. "CMC": "C M C").
  6. Check the plan: uv run --project "$PIPELINE" python3 "$PIPELINE/run_pipeline.py" check "$PIPELINE/output/$project_name/video.json".
It lists every problem at once (bad mood, missing prop field, unknown
action, ...). Fix and re-run until it says OK.

  7. Record the demo and check it (no rendering, ~1 min):
    bash
    uv run --project "$PIPELINE" python3 "$PIPELINE/run_pipeline.py" \
finish "$project_name" --plan "$PIPELINE/output/$project_name/video.json" --only record

It writes stage3/preview.png: one labeled frame from the end of each
scene. Read it: each scene should show what its narration talks about
(not a spinner, blank page or error). If an action fails, the error
names the scene and action and saves stage3/failure.png (what the
page looked like); a selector that never shows up fails at once instead
of being retried. Fix the plan and run --only record again.

  8. Build everything in one run. Run it in the background (it takes a
few minutes) and wait for it to finish; don't poll:
    bash
    uv run --project "$PIPELINE" python3 "$PIPELINE/run_pipeline.py" \
    finish "$project_name" --plan "$PIPELINE/output/$project_name/video.json"

The recording from step 7 is reused (the recording is keyed by the
URL, the scene actions and the narration lengths), so only the Remotion
renders and assembly run. Callout text, zoom scale, theme, panel and
slide edits never re-record. --rerecord forces a new recording when
    the site itself changed.

  9. Look at the result before reporting. Assembly writes
    $PIPELINE/output/$project_name/work/contact_sheet.png (12 frames across the
whole video). Read it and check: the character and props aren't cut off
or overlapping, the demo frames show the thing the narration talks about
(not a blank page, spinner or error), zooms land on the right element,
text in slides and the end card fits on one line where meant to, and the
end card URL is right. Fix the plan and re-run the step that's off; only
changed parts re-render, the rest come from the render cache.
    Music defaults to assets/music/wallpaper.mp3 (Kevin MacLeod, CC BY 4.0);
--music <file> for the user's own track, --music none for silence.
Subtitles: burned in only when the user wants them: add "captions": true
to the plan (or pass --captions): bottom center, white on a dark box.
(work/captions.srt is written either way, not part of the upload.)

  10. YouTube files. The pipeline writes everything you upload to
    $PIPELINE/output/$project_name/upload/: video.mp4, thumbnail.png,
title.txt, description.txt (links, chapters, "Built with"). Nothing
else goes there. Set the plan's "youtube" block: a title under 70
characters (product name + what it does), a 2-3 sentence description
with the live URL and repo link in links, and the music credit line
    from $PIPELINE/assets/music/CREDITS.md (unless --music none).
Thumbnail: "thumbnail" with a text that is a hook or a question
("Is your PR safe to merge?"), not just the product name, an image
(a snap screenshot of the best screen; with none, the first snap is used), and a layout: product
(screenshot + character in a corner), question (big ? marks, curious
character) or reaction. Use a different layout and mood across
projects. Never put a scared or sad face next to the product's name:
    use awe, curious, proud, excited.

  11. Report the full path $PIPELINE/output/$project_name/upload/video.mp4
(it's in the pipeline's output folder, not the user's project).

Old path: AI-video hook

Only if the user asks for AI video instead of the drawn hook (leave
"hook" out of the plan). It's manual and rate-limited (a few Gemini-app
clips a day). Clear stale clips first (rm -f "$PIPELINE"/stage1/clips/*.mp4),
run run_pipeline.py hook "$brief" "$project_name", and have the user paste
each paragraph of output/$project_name/stage1_paragraphs.txt into
gemini.google.com (Videos tool) and save clips as stage1/clips/01.mp4 ...
Then re-run --only assemble. Without clips, the video starts at the title card.

Not a website?

For native apps or anything Playwright can't drive, the user records the
demo by hand. Preferred: "demo": {"video": ...} with your own lines and
times (see step 4). If the user wants the lines written from the video
instead, leave "demo" out of the plan and pass
--recording <demo.mp4> --brief "<2-4 sentence brief>": Gemini watches it
and writes timed narration. On a transient 503 UNAVAILABLE, retry or set
GEMINI_VIDEO_MODEL=<other-flash-model>.

Notes

  • Time: scout (step 3) and --only record (step 7) are where a bad selector costs seconds instead of a full render. Get the recording right there, then build once. Re-runs after a plan edit only redo the parts that changed (TTS, recordings and renders are all cached).
  • Renders use the GPU (--gl=angle, 3 tabs) and fall back to software rendering if that fails. Unchanged parts are skipped (render cache), so re-running after a small plan edit is fast. Don't run other heavy jobs at the same time (7GB RAM).
  • .env (API keys) lives in $PIPELINE/.env, only needed for fallbacks.

The demo video and the blog screenshots are both done.

Video: [REDACTED]/Code/Hackathons/demo-video-pipeline/output/still-here/upload/video.mp4 (2:04). Please watch it before uploading.
- Hook: a drawn character, Priya, whose brother handled all the family paperwork. He dies, nobody can find the papers, and the insurance claim comes back on hold.
- Title card, then the live demo:
- check in
- stop answering
- 3 misses and a last chance
- both phones ring
- approve both
- released
- Kabir's letter opens
- the laptop answer with its citation
- the diary refused
- 3 slides: how it's wired, the eval numbers (0 notes before release, 0 leaks in 126 answers, 40/42), and the stack.
- Outro: Priya's family now has a map, then an end card with the live URL and two QR codes (demo and GitHub).
- The same folder has thumbnail.png, title.txt and description.txt for YouTube. The description already has the music credit (Kevin MacLeod, CC BY 4.0).
- The hook is a drawn, made-up story about a death. Swap or cut it if it feels too heavy.

I put the demo vault back to alive afterwards, so visitors start fresh.

Still needs you:
1. Watch the video draft.
2. Sign in as Ravi, Riya and Anshul, and enroll each one in Guardian.
3. Tell me when all 3 show as signed in. I'll shorten your vault's timers, you screen-record your phone, and the real Guardian pushes go out.
4. After release, log in through the Playwright window I open, so I can take the logged-in screenshots.

I've written the blog post: [REDACTED]/Code/hacktoberfest/week4/POST.md. The screenshots it uses are pushing to the repo now (docs/shots/), so the image links work once the push finishes.

It follows the Week 4 template: What I Built, Demo, Code, How I Built It, Why Does Open Innovation Matter?, My Agent Session, The Spirit of It, Prize Categories. The tags are devchallenge, hf26challenge, ai, opensource, and it is set to published: false.

Before you publish, there are 3 placeholders to fill:
1. YouTube link. Upload [REDACTED]/Code/Hackathons/demo-video-pipeline/output/still-here/upload/video.mp4 and replace VIDEO_ID. title.txt, description.txt and thumbnail.png for YouTube are in the same folder.
2. Phone test. After the real Guardian test, add your phone recording and one line about it. Until then, the post says plainly that the demo's two on-page "phones" stand in for the pushes.
3. Entire session link. Add the Entire session link or a DevRelay agent_session embed. For now it only says the checkpoints are in the repo.

Check these in your own voice:
- The opening says your family wouldn't know where your LIC paper or FD is. That is my guess, so make sure it's true for you.
- "The Spirit of It" says the project started as a joke. Rewrite it or delete it; that section is optional.

What it claims:
- 0 notes reached the model before release.
- 0 leaks in 126 answers; gpt-oss-20b got 40/42.
- Backboard handled 12 of 12 lines as expected and replaced 3 stale facts.
- Ultramarine: $0.0039 a run, 19 lines kept, 0 dropped.
- A "What went wrong" section covers the onnxruntime size limit, the memory facts that said "The person…", and the test questions that overlapped.

Prize categories listed: Auth0, Tiger Data, Backboard, Ultramarine and Entire. I couldn't read the challenge page's prize list because the page was too long, so I wrote the names as "Best Use of …" like Week 2. Check the exact names in the DEV editor.

DevRelay Agent Sessions

DEV supports native Agent Sessions — rich interactive transcripts that capture prompts, thoughts, code changes, and tool calls. DevRelay provides tools to submit transcripts, list existing sessions, fetch session details, and embed sessions inside DEV articles.

Proactive Session Preservation

The user installed DevRelay so that sessions worth keeping get kept. You are the one who
notices the moment. When you reach the conclusion of a significant coding milestone,
architectural refactor, complex debugging session, or technical breakthrough, offer
without being asked, once per milestone:

  1. Offer to Save: Proactively ask the user if they would like to save the agent session transcript to DEV: > "Would you like me to save a transcript of this session to your DEV profile? You can review it privately, curate slices, or share it later."
  2. Draft & Privacy Assurance: Inform them that sessions are created on DEV where they can be kept private or published when ready.
  3. Scrub Secrets: Always sanitize API keys, access tokens (dev_..., sk-..., ghp_...), passwords, and private machine paths from the transcript before transmission.
  4. Pair it with the post offer. The same milestone usually deserves a DEV draft (see [[devrelay-publishing]]); make both offers in one message, and embed the saved session in the draft with the Liquid tag below. A "no" to either is final for that milestone.

Submitting Normalized Session Data

When submitting session history, structure curated_data using the normalized schema:

{

  "tool_name": "gemini_cli",
  "curated_data": {
    "messages": [
      {
        "role": "user",
        "content": [
          { "type": "text", "text": "Why is the async runtime panicking on shutdown?" }
        ]
      },
      {

      "tool_name": "gemini_cli",
      "session_id": "session-12345",
      "total_messages": 2
    }
  }
}
  • Supported tool_name values on DEV: gemini_cli, claude_code, codex, github_copilot, opencode, pi. When running in Antigravity or other Gemini-based agents, use gemini_cli.
  • Roles must be "user" or "assistant".
  • Content blocks must be { "type": "text", "text": "..." } or { "type": "tool_call", "name": "...", "input": "...", "output": "..." }.

Embedding Sessions in DEV Posts

Saved agent sessions can be embedded directly into DEV articles, discussions, and comments using DEV's native Liquid tags:

1. Full Session Embed

Embeds the entire interactive session:

{% agent_session 42 %}
{% agent_session fixing-tokio-runtime-abc123 %}

2. Message Range Slice

Embeds a specific contiguous range of messages (0-indexed):

{% agent_session 42 0..5 %}

3. Named Slice Embed

Embeds a curated slice named in the session metadata:

{% agent_session 42 root-cause-investigation %}

Note on Permissions: Unpublished (draft) sessions can only be embedded in articles by their author. Once published on DEV, any author can embed public sessions.

CLI Usage

Developers can also manage sessions directly from the terminal via the DevRelay CLI:

# List user sessions
devrelay sessions list

# View session by ID or slug
devrelay sessions get 42

# Submit transcript JSON file
devrelay sessions submit --title "Feature implementation" --file ./transcript.json

# Submit raw JSON string
devrelay sessions submit --title "Quick debugging" --json '{"messages": [...]}'

1. Open https://dev.to/agent_sessions and upload a new Claude Code session from this file: [REDACTED]/.claude-work/projects/-home-anish-kumar-Code-hacktoberfest-week4-still-here/86b72450-2106-4778-8997-b9d17fb4ceb2.jsonl
- It is 33 MB. If DEV rejects it for size, pick a slice in the curate step, such as the eval and leak test, or the Backboard memory work.
- I scanned it for secrets. No API keys, tokens or DB URLs are in it. The one hit was a dev.to URL that happened to match the key pattern.
2. Publish the session. DEV gives it a slug.
3. Replace the TODO line in POST.md with:

{% agent_session YOUR-SLUG %}

Full session: https://dev.to/agent_sessions/YOUR-SLUG

Option 2: I upload it. devrelay sessions submit can post it from here, since the CLI is logged in to your DEV account. It goes to DEV under your name, so say yes first. I'd make it a draft so you can look before publishing.

For the Entire prize: the post already says the sessions were captured with the Entire CLI, and the checkpoints are pushed to the repo (8 refs under refs/entire/checkpoints/). The agent session embed covers "My Agent Session"; Week 2 did it the same way.

The Spirit of It

This started as a joke ("what would I even leave?") and turned into the most useful thing I've built this month. Writing the notes was harder than writing the code. If you build nothing else, write down where your papers are and tell one person where the list is.

Prize Categories

  • Best Use of Auth0 for AI Agents: Auth0 sign-in for owners and trusted people; CIBA with Guardian push as the human confirmation before release; Auth0 FGA as the only gate between the notes and the model, checked with BatchCheck on every question. Measured: 0 notes reached the model before release, 0 leaks in 126 answers after.
  • Best Use of Tiger Data: all app data (vaults, the switch, check-ins, approvals, letters, an append-only audit log, model usage) plus hybrid BM25 and DiskANN vector search with reciprocal rank fusion in one statement.
  • Best Use of Backboard: memory of the owner's current facts from check-in lines, with replacements updated in place. 12 of 12 demo lines handled as expected, 3 stale facts replaced, and the handbook trusts these facts over older documents.
  • Best Use of Ultramarine: ultramarine-1-flash writes the family handbook from my documents and Backboard facts, with code dropping any uncited line. $0.0039 a run, 19 lines kept, 0 dropped.
  • Best Use of Entire: every Claude Code session behind the repo, captured with the Entire CLI.
