BUILD FOR FRIEND HACKTOBERFEST
🎓 CAMPUSLY — Your Campus. Everything Connected.
Institutional Showcase: Saint Oxford Institute of Technology (SOIT)
Creative Direction: The Analog Campus — Digital, But Human
Status: Production-Ready Web Application (TypeScript Strict, Vite 8, React 18, Tailwind CSS v4)
🏛️ 1. Project Overview
Campusly is a student-centric, unified collegiate web platform built for the students, faculty, and administration of Saint Oxford Institute of Technology (SOIT). It unifies distributed college portals, syllabus PDFs, past examination archives, real-time circulars, campus navigation, and local amenities into one cohesive, editorial-grade digital experience.
Instead of navigating fragmented legacy ERP systems, scattered Google Drives, WhatsApp groups, and physical pin-boards, SOIT students have access to a single, beautifully designed command center that manages their academic journey, day-to-day schedule, exam preparations, and campus lifestyle.
❗ 2. Problem Statement
In modern higher education institutions, student information is painfully fragmented:
- Academic Fragmentation: Syllabus sheets, textbook references, and lecture notes are passed…
Campusly is engineered as a zero-latency client application:
Core Framework & Language: React 18 with TypeScript 5.8 for strict typing across all collegiate datasets.
Build Engine: Vite 8 for fast HMR and tree-shaken production asset packaging.
Design System ("The Analog Campus"): Tailwind CSS v4 implementing a publication-grade editorial palette (Warm Ivory #F6F1E7, Paper Cream #EDE4D4, Deep Forest Green #183D32, Muted Terracotta #C66B4E, and Academic Mustard #D7AA48) with DM Serif Display and DM Mono typography.
Interactive Vector Engine: Custom SVG map architecture enabling pan/zoom canvas interaction and building drawer inspection without external proprietary map APIs.
Live Scheduling Algorithm: A TypeScript time parser that computes minute-of-day offsets to calculate office availability and lunch intervals against local computer time.
State & Local Persistence: React Context (StudentContext, ThemeContext) backed by HTML5 localStorage for personal bookmarks, task manager progress, and theme state.
AI-Assisted Development: Developed using human-directed agentic pair programming with Google DeepMind's Antigravity assistant to scaffold typed domain structures, mathematical time boundary checks, and SVG vector paths.
Open innovation is what makes Campusly viable and impactful:
Zero Financial Barrier: Commercial college ERP platforms cost institutions thousands of dollars and remain locked behind bureaucratic vendor contracts. An open-source web application can be freely forked, localized, and deployed by any college student club or department in minutes.
Complete Data Privacy: Student bookmarks, personal study planner tasks, and onboarding checklist items are saved directly in client-side browser storage (localStorage). No student data leaves the device or is tracked by third-party services.
Hackable & Extensible: The academic data layer (src/data/) consists of clean, typed TypeScript files. Any student can clone the repository, plug in their own university's syllabus and office hours, and launch an institutional hub for their peers.
Grand Prize / Weekend Challenge Track: Build for a Friend**
Built specifically to solve the real-world daily academic, navigation, and office-timing challenges faced by my friend and roommate Atharv at college.
