Bitcoin ETF Tickers: IBIT, FBTC, GBTC and the 0.15% Outlier

There isn't one Bitcoin ETF symbol — there is a list, and each ticker belongs to a different fund company. The one most people mean is IBIT.

IBIT is the iShares Bitcoin Trust from BlackRock, the largest spot Bitcoin ETF. Spot = the fund holds actual BTC. Its expense ratio is around 0.25% per year.

Key points:

  • IBIT (BlackRock, ~0.25%) is the biggest; FBTC (Fidelity, ~0.25%) follows
  • GBTC (Grayscale, ~1.50%) is the expensive outlier in the group
  • BTC (Grayscale Mini Trust, ~0.15%) is among the cheapest well-known funds

Full main list: BITB (~0.20%), ARKB (~0.21%), HODL (~0.20%), EZBC (~0.19%), BTCO (~0.25%), BRRR (~0.25%), BTCW (~0.25%). Note that BITO is a futures ETF — price contracts, not spot BTC — so it belongs in a different bucket.

These tickers trade on Nasdaq, NYSE Arca and Cboe through a standard brokerage account. No crypto exchange, no wallet management. The flip side: an ETF share gives price exposure, not self-custodied Bitcoin you can transfer.

From a plain cost perspective, the spread matters: ~$15/year vs ~$150/year in fees on $10,000 between the cheapest and GBTC.
